Lenovo tablet not turning on but flashing red

I have a tablet that hasn't been turned on for years because it was confiscated. The tablet has been flashing red after hours of charging but won't turn on. What can I do????????????????????????????????????

It's possible that the battery is dead in that case.

It's also possible that the charger is defective.
