LibreOffice classified document: what is it?
Solvedbil -
Hello
Since today, I can no longer copy and paste from one file to another.
A pop-up opens and tells me:
“This document must be classified before the clipboard can be pasted.”
What is a classified document?
What is it for?
Why suddenly?
How can I avoid this problem (which seems useless to me, apparently).
In a related note, on Calc as well, above columns A, B, C, D etc.,
I now have this message on a red line: “The classification label of this document is Internal use only.”
I didn't have this before either and I don't know what it means, nor how to solve this problem.
In any case, I can no longer use LibreOffice, particularly with copy and paste.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards

Hello, "condensed":
Probably a so-called "security" update installs the classification throughout Writer and sets the software to "ready," preconfigured as "Internal Use Only," prioritizing the avoidance of risks. These updates from Microsoft do not always specify which software has been modified.
This standard was developed with the intention of being applicable to all areas of activity; LibreOffice retains the nomenclatures and categories of the defense industries.
The user can then customize it, for example to easily copy/paste.
'Internal Use Only' [risks of major damage] has the highest protection compared to 'non-professional' which has the lowest protection. [The information in the document has no impact on the company if made public].
The complete tutorial/user manual is on the full page.
Pasting content into documents with different classification levels.
To prevent a breach of security rules, content with a high classification level pasted into documents with a lower classification level is not authorized.
LibreOffice displays a warning message when it detects that the content of the clipboard has a security classification level higher than that of the target document.

Hello bendrop
Thank you first of all for your help.
I find your quote perfect for this context ("")
However, it doesn't help me enough to solve this problem that has appeared suddenly (why?)
and that reading the document, very well done, very (too) comprehensive, does not provide me with a simple solution for a non-specialist.
Thanks anyway,
Best regards
Hello,
The document must have been created with a classification label. Are you the creator of this document?
In your original document: File > Properties > Custom Properties tab: delete each property one by one (click on the red crosses). Be careful, there are quite a few. Then click OK. Do a second pass File > Properties > Custom Properties tab: delete the two new ones, then OK.
Save (or Save As): the classification label has disappeared.
Then you can change the classification level by going to the View menu - Toolbars and selecting Classification.
Best regards
Hello again,
Thank you for your practical and apparently effective help.
Yes, all the relevant files are my creation;
It seems that all my files now have this "property"; where does it come from?
I have been using LibreOffice for years and haven't made any recent updates.
When I try to copy and paste from an unclassified file to a classified file, it doesn't work.
I have to classify the old file before I can do this copy and paste.
Question: Is there not a "general setting" allowing no files to be classified (which was supposed to be the case before): what use does this have for an individual?
In any case, thank you for your help which is unlocking the use of my files
Best regards
Have a good weekend
