TURBO BASIC Programming

Hello,

I used to program in Turbo Basic (Borland) on PC back when Windows didn’t exist. I have all the documentation and the PowerBasic diskette purchased back then from AB CLUBS® - SPECTRA Publishing®.
I had a PC with a Hercules monitor and an impact printer. A 20 meg hard drive if I remember correctly! And a 5.25-inch drive. All of that under MS-DOS.
I miss that time when I started with a TO7, then TO9, then Amstrad.
I couldn’t transition to Windows 3.1 because I loved programming so much.
So I would really like to start again! If it’s possible to find the right equipment!
I guess connecting a printer won’t be possible.
Are there still PCs and monitors suitable for this practice, of course with a 3.5-inch drive?
Best regards,
Philippe R*****

    Hello,

You could look into vintage computers: https://www.ebay.fr/b/Ordinateurs-vintage/162075/bn_16575881

But you might also consider starting by using a virtual machine, under VmWare or VirtualBox, by installing an Msdos as the OS.

For floppy disks, USB floppy disk drives are still available.

You should be able to find successors to basic that can be used on a modern machine: https://www.clubic.com/telecharger-fiche315566-microsoft-small-basic.html

I would advise you, if you want to do programming, to check out the Python language, which is current, interpreted like basic, allowing for the creation of scripts or programs with a graphical interface.

Turbo Basic works with Windows XP

To run the executables created under Windows 10, you need to use the DOSBOX interface
