Unrecognized SSD

Hello,

I own a LENOVO IDEAPAD GAMING 3 15ACH6 (82K2000PFR) - Motherboard: LENOVO LNVNB161216

I decided to upgrade it, so I switched to 16 GB of RAM and also wanted to install another SSD (Crucial P2 CT500P2SSD8) of 500 GB for storage.

When I installed it, it was not recognized by the BIOS, nor by the disk/device managers. To rule out a defective SSD, I installed the Crucial in place of the original SSD (Micron MTFDHBA512QFD), and it was perfectly detected.

I then decided to reinstall the original SSD, but it was no longer recognized either...

It has already been a week that I have been searching through all possible and imaginable forums, and I have been in contact with my brother-in-law and a colleague who know quite a bit about this, but no solution has been found yet...

I’m starting to think that the issue comes from the 2nd slot, but I don't see what it could be. I also sent a message to Lenovo's customer service, but I haven't received a reply yet.

If anyone has an idea or even a solution, I would be thrilled.

Thank you in advance to those who take the time to respond :)

Hello,

The issue may be related to the BIOS configuration. You can try the following steps:

  1. Restart your computer and press the appropriate key to access the BIOS (usually F2 or Del).

  2. Look for storage configuration options in the BIOS menu. You may need to disable RAID configuration to use another SSD.

  3. Make sure the new SSD is correctly configured as a boot device.

  4. Save the changes and restart the computer. Check if the new SSD is detected.

If that doesn't work, the new SSD may be incompatible with your computer or the SATA connector may be damaged. It is also possible that you may need to update the BIOS firmware to support new storage devices.

If you are not comfortable performing these steps, it is best to contact Lenovo technical support for assistance.
