DVD player turns on and off in a loop

Hello,

I have a problem with my ASUS DVD/CD drive SDRW-08D2S that turns off and on by itself every 5 seconds.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your advice, now it works.

    The problem was that the drive was connected to a mini tower with a dozen USB ports, and that tower is connected to my PC.

    But if I connect the drive directly to my computer, it works.

    Good evening, is the power cable of the DVD/CD player properly connected? Is it undamaged?

    Also, make sure there are no loose connections. (try testing with other cables or on another computer)

    Try resetting the DVD/CD player by unplugging the power cable, disconnecting the data cables, and leaving the player unplugged for a few minutes before plugging it back in.

    If the problem persists, it may be defective and need to be replaced.

      thank you for your reply, I will try your advice tomorrow morning.

      I will let you know if the drive works again or not.
      The DVD/CD drive is 1 year old and has only read 4 CDs/DVDs, so I would be surprised if it were defective.

      When it restarts in a loop, all the peripherals restart at the same time. It’s not a power supply problem because if I unplug all the peripherals (except for the drive) and put my PC on eco mode, it still doesn’t work.
