Hello,
When I turn on my PC, the fan starts running and beeps for a long time before shutting down.
I have tried changing the battery, but the problem persists.
If you have any idea what the problem might be, I thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows Vista / Safari 534.10

Hello, it's the BIOS that is emitting an error code.
This long beep has a meaning and depending on the brand of the BIOS, it changes.
So take a look here: https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/389-bios-acceder-au-setup-du-bios
There are tables with the correspondence of beeps and PC problems.
Clearly, this could be a problem with the RAM.
But without the brand of the PC and its configuration, I can't say more.
The error is human, but so is stupidity. We can always avoid mistakes, but stupidity is harder to avoid. ;-) -
Thank you for your response, I will check the link.
The PC configuration: Maxdata Favorit, 512MB, Windows XP Pro, Intel Celeron D.
The problem occurred when I changed the RAM stick; I had installed a 1GB one. Everything was working for 24 hours and then a blue screen error message appeared. -
Well, there you have it, that confirms it.
The problem comes from the RAM.
Check that it is properly installed and also that it is compatible with your motherboard.
It is also possible that the stick is defective.
Remove this stick and/or put the old one back in if necessary.

To err is human, but stupidity is too. We can always avoid mistakes, but when it comes to stupidity, it's tougher. ;-) -
My PC is working again. I think one of my RAM slots is defective; I put the stick in the other slot.
At startup, it showed me this: " CMOS checksum error, defaults loaded " and it started normally.
So thank you very much. -
There is also the following case: there is a certain order to be respected for the placement of the clips; this must have been the case here.
Don't forget to mark this subject as resolved. ;)
Looking forward to it.
