Hello,

I currently have a GAMER PC (pre-built, it's the SK15 from Boulanger) with a 500W power supply.

CPU = Ryzen 5 3600x

GPU = I want to change it

1x 2TB HDD (7200 RPM)

1x 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD

4x DDR4 3200MHz RAM sticks (32GB of RAM in total)

1x basic be quiet fan for €10

My wish is the following: I would like to buy an RTX 3060 from MSI, the GAMING X model because it's on sale. Will my power supply be able to handle it? It's 500W +80 Bronze (Asus, the cheapest, you got that)

Hello

The minimum recommendation for this card is 650w, so you are well below that.

In practice, if you're playing brick breaker or The Sims, your 500w will be sufficient...

Otherwise, get an idea based on a similar or nearly identical problem:

Because MSI recommends 550w and I've calculated my setup to be around 427w.

650w that's my advice, my calculation.

Otherwise, it's simpler;

Calculate the necessary power for a PC power supply (commentcamarche.net)

You can try with your 500w, if it works then it's all profit. But if it crashes occasionally while gaming, you'll know why.

I had the same problem, did it work for you?

Flo88 gave you the tracks, here is a direct link to the calculator

Otherwise, you'll find 427w for a 550 OK, but if you overload your power supply, it will overheat ➕️ shorter lifespan, give yourself a margin of 30%.

And if you overload it, it can cause kernel panic and random restarts.
