Impossible to play video file copied to external SSD
JEROME -
Hello,
After copying files to a new 8 TB SSD formatted ex-FAT, reading these files is impossible.
I noticed that some files that were copied have disappeared from the SSD the next day.
Thank you for your advice to resolve this issue.
Best regards, Chantal

Hello,
What types of file extensions are these?
Hello,
Thank you.
The external drive on which I want to back up the contents of a PC disk, the .ISO files are the image files of a DVD or Blu-ray created to be burned. As for the MPG files, they were created between 1997 and 2006, which represents a significant number. I've been doing video editing for 30 years.
This does not explain why all the files are read well on another 4TB external drive and not on the new one I just bought.
Best regards,
Hello. Thank you for this utility, but it doesn't recognize the 8TB external SSD.
On this drive, I've created 2 directories, one of which has subdirectories. The files copied into the subdirectories are there, but the next day, they disappeared. Those copied into the main directory are still present, but cannot be read.
Incomprehensible.
Hello,
So, what model and at what price did you buy this SSD?
(like 10 or 20 euros on Aliexpress, that's a no-go)
I'm thinking about the possible scam of false indicated size, like it actually has a few gigs but falsely shows 8 TB to Windows.
So copy the data and repeatedly erase the old ones.
This program will test and indicate the real storage capacity > https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/11535-h2testw/
beware back up this data beforehand and if the disk really has a large capacity, the test will be very, very long. (and make sure to select the correct disk to test, don't make a mistake or you risk erasing another one)

Hello, Thank you for your advice and the utility.
This is an 8TB SSD purchased from Amazon for €68. I launched the checking utility and here are the results.
Error writing file 'J:\30.h2w', offset 0x3fe00000.
It is still possible to verify the test data written up to this point.
(A device that does not exist has been specified. Code 433)
Warning: Only 7403308 of 7999968 MByte tested.
Writing speed: 18.9 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
What do you think? Best regards
The test is faulty, we need to look for another utility to check.
.
Well ... buying a product worth several hundreds of euros for only 60 is not a deal but a scam.
.
It revolves around this idea of false capacity, tampered disk with a program that indicates a false size and copies/deletes in a loop to deceive the user.
.
This type of ad, 50 different sellers, buyer comments to read, none of them good:
There they put 69 to make it clear that ... :-)
.
Get your money back and report this spam ad for a discount disk scam to Amazon.
In addition ... to the following ad, one might say it’s a good deal, maximum stars and numerous comments.
If you look at the price, the seller, the visuals and description, it already smells like the same scam.
Regarding comment ratings, many are fake and some are real, like “I’m happy, I got a great deal,” but they haven't used it enough yet to uncover the scam.
Sorry but always compare to the standard prices of brands, if there’s too much difference, it’s ...
