Hello,
I just bought a Lenovo computer: LENOVO Ideacentre 310S-08ASR Central Unit
It has a Windows C drive which is filling up by default and a Data D drive that is 8 times larger which I can't seem to use.
I have read a lot about this, but the method of moving folders: properties, location, move does not work at all.
I don't know what to do because the C drive is almost full.
I admit, I hate W10 but I don’t have a choice, I have to deal with it.
Thanks
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 85.0.4183.121

Hello,
to transfer your user folders (documents; images; videos; downloads; music), which are usually the largest, a simple cut/paste will do the trick (it may happen that Windows does not automatically transfer the shortcuts of the latter, but normally it does).

Good evening,
SSD 128 GB which is therefore C, it's small even for Windows and software.
HDD 1000 GB which is therefore D, you need to put all your data there.
Modify your library paths as in the tutorial that follows:
http://www.chantal11.com/2009/05/deplacer-mes-documents-ou-tout-dossier-personnel-sur-autre-partition-windows-7-8-10/
Make sure to create the folders that will receive on D before moving.
Do this for every folder that stores (images, documents, videos, downloads, music...)
This way, nothing will change in terms of usage, but all your data will automatically be stored on D to avoid cluttering C.
If there's a problem, specify at what moment, give details, error...

Thank you Gugu, I have already read Chantal 11, and it doesn't work like that, I have options like library, etc., not D drive.
I spent the whole evening and half the night on this. Rarely am I so completely lost.
I will continue tomorrow.

Hello, and thank you for your responses
Yes, gugu, they have 1/ Windows (C) 117 GB; 2/ Data (D) 931 GB free out of 931.
For moving, it offers me: OneDrive, MJ (my first name last name), This PC, Library, Network
And it asks to choose a folder.
I just found something else, I’m waiting for your advice to avoid making a mistake!
So: start, settings, storage, Other storage settings >> Change the save location for new content: Here there are disks C and the option to choose D for "
After choosing D, each new will go to D
YES?????

Yes, but it's not the best, it doesn't move so well, it doesn't move what already exists.
The previous method was simple, but it seems you missed a step.
Example for document.
> I go to D, right click and choose to create a new folder that I name 'document'.
> Then I right click on "document" located on C, and choose properties.
.. I go to the location tab
....... I click on find target
............... a window opens, I navigate to find and point to the new folder "document" that I created on D and I confirm.
It's good, the documents will go to D.
Same for images, videos...

Under Windows 10, the settings are not to move what already exists, but to save future documents elsewhere.
Not great at all.
I would suggest going back.
And properly resume the initial movement.
You must have done it incorrectly, skipped a step because your comments in return, when you talk about proposals, do not exist in the normal course of this procedure.

That's it, the documents will go to D.
Detail or give images of where you are stuck.
Not having the PC in front of you, so be precise so that we can visualize.

Thank you gugu for your patience.
I think I understand.
Anyway, everything has to stay on C, why?
Yes, to choose a new location you need 2 clicks on the This PC icon.
So for example, I can move my photos.
Yes, but it asks me to move ALL the files so that a program can have access if it needs it.
I was also told that it's better to increase C and decrease D. What do you think?
I saw this:
https://www.diskpart.com/fr/windows-10/augmenter-taille-disque-c-windows-10.html#:~:text=S'il%20y%20a%20un,de%20s%C3%A9lectionner%20%C3%89tendre%20le%20volume.
But on my system, "extend volume" is not active.
Have a nice day.

No, you don't need to double click on This PC, but right-click on each folder like Documents, Music, Videos and choose properties then the location tab.
Increasing C since you have two drives is not ideal, it's better to leave C as it is, with less of your data that you will put on D, the other hard drive.
The simple extend only works if unallocated space is present (and on the same disk, if no prior change).
But why look here and there and try everything halfway?
In your Windows settings, revert to how it was before (going back on what you might have done).
Then what does the following yield?
At what point can't you do this or that?
--------------------------

I choose to move all proposed by default and I validate.
It's good, the documents will go to D.

In addition to message 17.
In my opinion, you are doing things wrong because your responses do not match.
It’s not mean, but you are too angry with Windows 10, the PC... and more clear-headed after having tried.
Do you not have someone beside you, a husband, child, friend, who could therefore have a more zen mindset to carry out what is given?

emjiemji you've done too much in every way (before and during)
We're back to square one.
It seems you've made modifications on the following page
Put everything back on C as before.
Your D should normally be empty again or have folders that are now useless which you will delete.
Let me know when it's done.
---------------
Then we will go back to the idea of moving little by little click by click.
Don't rush anything, wait for us to guide you.

Hello, a year later.
I've started to understand this wild beast = my computer has two drives
I managed to put some of my documents on D., especially photos and audios, and shortcuts on the desktop.
But when I want to save a Word file (for example) on D, Windows doesn't give me the option to choose. And in the end, IT works!
This W10 is very temperamental.
I'm doing copy/paste as you suggested.
Thank you.
