SFTP/FTP Freebox slow speed even with fiber

Hello,

I have a problem that is ongoing.

I have a Freebox Révolution with 1 Gbit/s (theoretical, in reality, I only get 640 Mbit/s).

I use the SFTP service from the box to store/read movies. And FileZilla to send/retrieve files.

But even with a good fiber connection, I'm capped at 8 Mo/s when I upload/download a file to the box locally (I specify). Whereas when I do a speed test locally, I'm capped by my network card at (30 Mo/s).

So here's my problem: I want to make full use of my network card's potential. And understand the reasons behind this loss of speed.

Does the FTP service have limited bandwidth?

Is the hard drive worn out? Considering the box is less than a year old and it's the original drive.

Is it FileZilla that is causing issues?

If you have solutions like switching to a self-signed HTTPS service instead of SFTP or another software that can replace FileZilla if the problem comes from it.

    Hello,

    Filezilla does SFTP natively, it's even its first option; SFTP will always work better than FTPS.

    You're lucky to have a Freebox, as you can perform a local speed test:

    But goodness, those line breaks are annoying!!

      I know all of this, but it doesn't answer my question about the loss of speed when using SFTP.
      But I am setting up an SMB 3 server, it will be simpler for me, I think, and maybe it will solve this speed issue.

        but so, are you changing servers? You're no longer using the same setup or hardware?

        So it's not easily comparable.

        By the way,

        are you talking about local or remote downloads?
