Remote FTP access to the Freebox Server (V6)

The solution I use while waiting for the opening of the FTP server on the FreeboxV6: a FileZilla FTP server behind a FreeboxV6

I) Installation of FileZilla Server
- Run the installation exe (here FileZilla_Server-0_9_37.exe)
- Click on the "IAgree" button
- Leave standard options, then "Next"
- Click on the "Next" button
- Change the default port to improve the security of the FTP server, then "Next"
Here I choose port 64147 (administration port)
- Change the management interface startup to "Start manually", then "Install"
- Close
- Check the "Always connect to this server" box and change the port to 64147, then "ok"

II) FileZilla Settings
- Create a directory on your disk that will serve as the root directory of your FTP server.
Here I choose the directory \\Freebox\hard disk
- Create a user
o Go to Edit then User
o Click on the "Add" button (on the right)
o Enter the login and then ok (here I choose mgavet)
o Check the password box and enter the password (on the general page)
o Click on "Shared Folders" to access the Shared Folders page
o Click on the "add" button (in the middle)
o Select the directory you created earlier
o Check all boxes (Read, Write, Delete, Append, List, Subdirs)
o Validate the creation of the user with OK
- Securing the server
o Go to Edit then settings
o In the connection settings area, change the listening port
o Click on "Passive mode setting" to access the "Passive mode setting" page
o Check the "Retrieve external IP address from" box
o Check the "Use custom port range" box
o Enter the ports that will be used for passive mode

III) Network Configuration (FreeBoxV6)
- Set the IP address of the machine where the FileZilla server is installed to a fixed IP
o Note your current IP address (run -> cmd -> ipconfig)
o Go to the properties of your local network connection
o Then go to the properties of the TCP/IP Protocol
o Enter the previously noted information

- Connect to the administration interface of your Freebox
For example: http://freebox/login.php
- Activate the NO-IP module to ensure that the IP address does not change
o Go to "Internet connection", "Dynamic DNS", "Configuration"
- Port forwarding to provide access to the FileZilla FTP server
o Go to "Local Network", "Port Forwarding", "Simple"
o Add ports 6421, 6420
o Go to "Local Network", "Port Forwarding", "Ranges"
o Add ports from 6422 to 6488

IV) Test
- Local connection test via FileZilla
o Connection => OK
host: 127.0.0.1
login: mgavet
port: 6421
o File transfer test

- External connection test via FileZilla
o Connection => OK
host: <host_no_ip>.no-ip.org
login: mgavet
port: 6421
o File transfer test => OK</host_no_ip>

In the management platform, configuration tab, NAS tab, FTP tab:
enable the function :)

combined with the use of a DNS, it's killer.

In remote access? Outsider local? Could you explain the procedure?

It still requires a PC to be switched on permanently, and uploading is impossible (or if it is, I imagine it's through an HTTP upload form... that's not great :S)

Okay, if you have your screen via your address in http, that's perfect. You can now control your box remotely. That's good, isn't it?

The box doesn't have a web server in the traditional sense like a classic site, and that's why you only have the screen.

The S3 is too small for tests. With the tablet, it's like I'm on my server and it's much more comfortable.

Outside of Wi-Fi, I connect to the internet with my tablet via Bluetooth on my S3. I didn't want an additional subscription where I'm already paying for a web plan.

Anyone?

Thank you Galou for this information. However, I believe this is an open HTTP access that was recently enabled by a firmware update.

What I'm interested in is FTP access from anywhere...

Has anyone found a way to do remote uploads (hence the usefulness of connecting via FTP on a different network than the one for the Freebox...) ??

If it works for me, it must work for you and everyone else. The good news is that it works locally. Your system is therefore well configured.

The reason for your issue: Your dns record is not set up OR your IP has not yet propagated to the top-level DNS after registering with dyndns or no-ip.
That is why you are still invisible from the internet. It can take several days, sometimes more than a week.

Proof by 9, you arrive at the FTP login screen
