Ink quantity between a resolution of 600 and 1200 DPI

Hello,
I print a lot of my courses on my printer. When I print at 600 DPI, the ink is smudgy, so I tried 1200 DPI (it takes longer) where the writing is clear and not smudgy.
So I wanted to know if changing the resolution affects the amount of ink used?
Ink is too expensive to waste. If printing at 1200 DPI uses more ink, I would stick to the 600 DPI resolution.
Thank you in advance.

Good evening,
In my opinion, the lowest points per inch consumes the least ink... The quality of the print suffers a bit as a result...
I also suppose there must be quite a few settings in your printer, and if you dig a bit deeper, there are probably some nuances...
For example: printing a document or printing a photo is very different...
Another piece of information: you could buy refillable and resettable cartridges that you fill yourself with ink designed for this purpose... the cost is definitely not the same... however, it requires a bit of work and can be messy if you're not very handy...!!!
