How to rate a file in Windows 10?

Hello,

I would like to assign ratings to several of my files. I've added the rating column, and by going to properties > details, I find the rating line, but I still can't assign stars.

Can you help me?

Thanks

Flo

    Hello,

    To complement what brucine wrote:

The Rating metadata exists for certain file categories; for example: images, videos, music.

You can see it in the file Properties: right-click on the file then Properties => Details.
You can then assign stars to the file. And you confirm by clicking OK.
Strangely, it doesn't work for all files (for example: Wav). (I didn't have time to delve into the problem).

When you display the Rating column in File Explorer, the stars you assigned appear.

What is well conceived is clearly stated,
And the words to say it come easily.

      Hello,

But even if it exists, I tried it on an avi file, checking that I was indeed the "owner" of the file in question, which one cannot necessarily create but modify in Windows; indeed, maybe only for certain types of files.
