Custom ROM installation on my tablet

Hello,
I currently have a Galaxy Tab 3 SM-T110 running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
This version of Android is outdated, I can no longer install many apps or security updates.
Would it be possible to upgrade the Android version?
I did my research. Since Lineage OS is not available for my device, I found this: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767126057
I also installed TWRP recovery on my tablet, and I installed the official ROM from this source: https://www.phonandroid.com/forum/threads/firmware-officiel-t110xxuani7-xef-android-4-2-2-samsung-galaxy-tab-3-lite-7-0-wifi-sm-t110.103628/ (because TWRP did not offer my ROM)
After that, I don't know what to do, is there an easier way? I'm confused. Moreover, the tutorials I've found are very old and therefore not accurate. Can I also create a custom ROM myself to upgrade my Android and change a few things like the launcher?
My tablet thanks you for your answers!

Hello,
This is a very old model where recent Android versions will not be supported hardware-wise, and as far as I know, Android updates are limited to 7.0, which does not guarantee that the appropriate French version can be found, that the tablet won’t crash, or even that, if it works, the features will be limited.

Even Android 7.0 won’t change much about the situation; when it's "too old," one has to face facts.
Thank you for your response.
Would it be possible then to install another operating system designed for old devices, like Linux Lubuntu for older computers?
Thank you
No idea, it’s designed to support Android, and Android, in a way, is already Linux.
To my knowledge, all alternative OSes are proprietary or have more or less sunk, except maybe Ubuntu Touch and LineageOS; I don't know if they can be installed on such a device and how.
