Hello,

Since a Mac running OS10 El Capitan, I go on Orange to read my emails. When trying to read one sent by "adxm", which invites me to click on "invoice" to read the invoice (sent by a "SARL COUTURIER"), I click on the link and I get three Windows pop-up windows (!!!) superimposed, with the top one showing a warning about my computer being blocked for security reasons, inviting me to call Windows support to resolve the issue. A phone number is provided, which is 09 70 50 12 35.

While searching for this number on the Internet, I learned that this was a scam, but apart from that, I don't know what to do.

So my question is: What can I do to avoid the mentioned nuisances (data loss, suspension of my Windows) and blocked device (which I had to turn off with the switch, then turn back on and find the same problem when going back to my emails and clicking on the attachment mentioned above).

Is deleting the email enough?

    Hello,

    The answer is in the question: do not click on any email, especially when it claims to be about an invoice from someone you don't know from Adam or Eve, and indeed delete the email.

    In this particular case, as far as I remember, it's "only" a malicious script that executes when you click, but it doesn't install anything permanently.

    I don't know the situation on Mac, on Windows some email software allows you to view the sender, subject, header..., directly on the server before downloading them, which enables you to empty the trash before even filling it.
