Epson driver issues

Hello,
I installed my Epson wf2840 printer on a Windows 10 PC and it shows an error installing the Fax Utility driver, so it cannot be installed; everything else works fine (printing, scanning, etc.).
I had a chat with Epson, but so far they haven't found a solution.
I have another Windows 10 PC, and there the installation went smoothly, including for the Fax Utility.
On the first PC where it's stuck, I did a sf / scannow and found no issues.
Can someone help me?
Best regards

Hello.
Update drivers and software directly from the Epson website:

A hello, a response, and a thank you are always appreciated.
The printer works well, it prints, it scans, it digitizes; the only thing it cannot do is send a fax, and for good reason since the fax utility could not be installed.
In my mind, if the printer works, it means its driver is installed, so why when I try to install the fax utility does it tell me that the driver cannot be installed?
I saw on the Epson website that you indicated there was an Epson driver 3.00.
Every time I went to the site, I actually downloaded a newer version of the fax utility that still did not want to install.
Is the driver 3.00 that I need to download not going to conflict with the one that is already installed since the printer works, and will it not block everything? Can I install it without any issues? Thank you for a response. Best regards.
On the page I indicated to you, there are the drivers and software for your printer, including Fax Utility version 3.25.02. If Epson has made this software available on the page for your printer, it obviously means that it is compatible; otherwise, why would they post it online? Epson is the best positioned to know what is compatible or not with your printer.

It's indeed this file that I downloaded and tried to install but without success, so the problem remains unsolved; the solution you proposed does not resolve my issue.
Hello .....
Following up on your last message marked as a duplicate, I just read on the Epson website that it is necessary to configure Fax Utility before using it.... and that might be the reason why you're having trouble getting it to work .... if you are sure you have downloaded and installed all the necessary drivers for this printer's proper functioning ► See this link

Thank you for your response
I can't configure the fax utility because I can't install it
The error message occurs during the installation when it asks me to confirm the printer being used; I click ok and everything freezes with an error message
I have a second PC where it works, so there is probably a conflict with W10 or another driver or another program
but how can I detect the culprit
Thank you for the feedback.....
I'm sorry, but I didn't follow everything.....
I don't think W10 is to blame if this same printer works under another W10... and it’s not very normal that Epson doesn’t know how to resolve the issue.... but ???
Personally, I would uninstall everything to start afresh if there are issues during the installation using the Revo Uninstaller tool ► Here ► If you are not familiar with this tool, take the time to read its operating instructions on the same link
- Launch Revo Uninstaller ► Uninstall the printer by following the entire process of Revo Uninstaller
- Restart the PC
- Reinstall the printer with all its drivers and software from the Epson site ► Here
- Configure Fax Utility before use ► See this link
Translation of the installation instructions from the 1st link
Additional information:
The Epson product setup includes everything you need to use your Epson product. This program downloads and installs the latest drivers and software for your Epson product and may download network utilities and additional software if needed. Please note: To use this software, your computer must have Internet access. Depending on the speed of your Internet connection, this process may take some time. Once the software is downloaded, it will automatically start installing. You will be guided (on-screen) throughout the process.

Thank you for your response
but the first time I tried to install it, it didn't work, so at that time there was nothing installed incorrectly
See you+
Personally, I don't see any other solutions than trying to uninstall everything properly in order to do a fresh installation... As mentioned above, the first link seems to install all drivers and software for this printer... which I just simulated on a W11 and everything seems to go smoothly... without any blocking...
Has this printer ever been installed on this same PC?... and is W10 up to date just in case...
Cheers
I did what you advised me
without success, it’s still stuck
I took the opportunity to delete a bunch of useless programs
do you know the procedure to repair Windows without having to reinstall all my programs afterwards
thanks in advance
Hello,
repair windows without having to reinstall all my programs Look at this --> Repair Windows 10 without data loss
Hello, so I'm going to explain but it's going to be long
Usual procedure I install the printer driver and then I install the software when it starts installing the fax utility pack
After a minute it freezes and tells me installation error but I already had time to see that it's installing things in Program Files*86/Epson software
So I went to Program Files *86 I saw that they had managed to install the driver and two DLL files installed or copied only
So I went to the other PC where the installation worked fine I copied the entire fax utility folder
I went back to the PC where it was freezing In administrator mode I pasted the entire fax utility folder in Program Files x86/Epson software
And I saw that it copied everything properly
I didn’t do anything in the registry
I didn’t do anything in Windows driver
I opened the fax utility and inside the fax utility there were plenty of exe files I triggered a certain number and at one point it worked so it wasn’t the driver that was the issue
And the fax utility works normally
But I didn’t remember which action I had taken that lifted the blockage
At one point I saw that in the Epson Software folder there was still a folder from my old printer but it’s the same on the other PC that worked well and the presence of this old printer folder didn’t bother it
So it works the blockage didn’t come from the non-installation of the drivers since it managed to install them before it got stuck nor do I think from the dll
so the problem is resolved But if ever I have to format or uninstall the printer I didn’t manage to remember what I had done that made it work it's a bit long that's why I didn't want to explain all this but there you go you know everything
I had done a Windows repair keeping my programs and files but it didn’t resolve the issue
See you and thanks again
Thank you for the feedback. Maybe jmarion3 will be able to untangle the web (not from your explanations, but from Windows).
It must be acknowledged I just read on the Epson site that it was necessary to configure Fax Utility before its use that jmarion3 had indeed detected that the setting was done in the "fax utility" module.
Thank you for the feedback ......we know a little more but it’s all quite confusing and especially very strange that the installation went smoothly on the first PC with the same procedure, but not on the second .....but the main thing is that it works!
To back everything up in case of issues, I suggest you create a system image of this PC on an external drive (external hard drive) which should allow you to restore this printer in case of problems or otherwise..
Have a great weekend and see you!
Hello Georges97....
No worries... actually, I didn't really understand everything about this "homemade" installation on this W10 PC that was reinstalled... personally, I think that residues from repeated installation attempts must have prevented a clean reinstallation, despite having used Revo Uninstaller... if it was done properly... as advised above..
Have a great weekend as well
Best regards
Without wanting to prolong the pleasure of speaking with you, I confirm that an "advanced" uninstallation often allows for the deletion of profiles and traces in the registry.
Recently, simply deleting the /appdata folder of an IDE for Arduino named Mariamole (Brazilian) allowed me to reinstall the new version that was throwing an error signal during installation. I promised myself to try again if I encounter a problem with another software.
See you soon,
Georges
