Hello,

For the past 2 days, I have been unable to scan a document.
I uninstalled HP Smart and then reinstalled it, but I still get the same message:
"HP Smart cannot scan from this printer. Either no scanner has been detected, or HP Smart is not compatible with this printer's scanner."

I am still on Windows 10 and I've had this printer for about 2 years without any scanning issues.

In principle, and if the printer is functioning, it means that it is properly installed...

It could be that updates to Windows 10 may have messed things up.. (subject to...)

To try scanning, I suggest you do as indicated below

  1. Use the Fax & Scan option included in Windows 10 ► Type Scans in the Windows search bar ► In the window that opens ► Click on the Fax & Scan line ► A new page opens ► Click on New Scan...(See screenshot below)

Another solution which is practically the same as above

Download and install the Windows Scanner app from the Microsoft Store ► This link

Hello,

I wasn't able to apply your advice. For solution 1, I only managed to get to the same image as you. I couldn't find the application's path.

For solution 2, it wasn't working at first, but after the last reinstallation, the Windows scanner is functioning!

After going around in circles, I uninstalled the printer once again, restarted the computer. I reloaded the driver through a different path and then restarted the computer.

I ended up with 2 applications: HP Smart, which is stuck but won't open, and HP 5000 series. The application is less user-friendly but works (scanner + printer).

If I understood correctly, you managed to get everything working now by reinstalling the printer ...

Unless I'm mistaken, HP Smart tends to cause issues with older HP printers ... not installing it is probably the best solution.

I think the printer wasn't set up correctly at the beginning ...
