Hello to you, Friends Technicians,

I am reaching out once again for your help.

This time it concerns an Android update on a tablet.

So your question will be to check "About Phone" then "System Update."

As for me, I reply that I am on ANDROID VERSION: 5.0.2

and that we should be at least on version 10 or higher, and even if I perform a search, nothing happens despite my two resets that went well, so something is wrong.

Tablet model: ASUS P023

A BIG THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSES

JLOUIS

Hello JLOUIS, indeed all units equipped with Android, like a smartphone or a tablet, end up no longer being updated to a newer version of Android. The reason generally given by manufacturers is that each piece of hardware has its own specific version of Android, for example, your tablet has Android 5.0.2, and therefore with each new version of Android, the manufacturer must revalidate that version on YOUR tablet, the P023 from ASUS, which incurs costs, for a system that is becoming increasingly outdated.

In reality, it's also a way to encourage you to switch to a new tablet... business is business.

This approach is quite different from that of Microsoft Windows.

In short, to get out of this situation, you need to find a "Custom ROM," meaning a version of Android that is higher than your 5.02 and has been adapted and tested outside of ASUS, by a Chinese developer or someone like that specifically for your tablet model. Then you need to Flash it with TWRP, for example, either through a PC or directly.

I did it for my old LENOVO A7600-F by upgrading from version 4 to 7, and the result is great. Then you need to install the specific Google Apps for your tablet, which you can usually find in the same place as your Custom ROM.

However, it's quite tricky to do, even though there are explanations available... I spent several days on it...

Regarding you, I found these links that might help you: http://bottlestonightapp.com/article-firmware/asus-zenpad-10-p023-p023 and https://forum.xda-developers.com/tags/zenpad/. The latter (the xda-developers forum) generally contains a wealth of information. Most of the time, the best information is in English.

I’m not sure you will find what you're looking for since, of course, there are many smartphones and tablets for which nothing has been done...

Good luck! Best regards, Setaou1

Hello,

So what?

In my opinion, Asus support is unlikely to be of much help because they probably haven't released any Android updates for this device in quite a while, and even if they did out of the blue, the hardware is most likely incompatible with those updates.

I myself have a slightly less old phone (2017) that has been stuck on Android 8 for over 2 years with no possibility of an update: we have to come to terms with it, we use it as it is for as long as we can or we change it.

@ brucine

it was to provoke a reaction from the requester

I know that suppliers limit access to new versions, having already installed various custom ROMs on mobiles and tablets to have a higher version of Android
