Hello,

I have an HP 2700 series printer. When I launch the HP SMART app on my PC, it starts up and recognizes my printer. However, when I click on "scan," the app restarts, and it continues like this, preventing me from scanning.

I am very disappointed with HP and would like to find another alternative to be able to scan without using HP SMART but still be able to use my printer.

I suggest you try scanning with the Scan & Fax option included in Windows 10 and 11...

Alternatively, there is a free app in the Microsoft Store that allows you to scan if your printer is recognized by Windows ►See this link

+1 for both proposed solutions

I have the same printer and both work (the Microsoft Scanner app suggested is simpler to use than Fax and Scan)

HP Smart is completely useless for this printer (and others) except to make you open an account and sell ink

The problem is the confusion of genres, as the scanning software is drowned amid an application that not only aims to sell consumables but is also very intrusive in terms of telemetry and unnecessarily consumes resources by launching associated services.

However, if we manage to separate the competitors (which is the case for my Epson), the brand-specific scanning software is often more generous in terms of scanning settings (colors, resolution, contrast...), assembled copies, output (image, pdf, email...).

In this regard, it should be noted that while HP "encourages" the use of HP Smart, there is no obligation to install it, and the standalone scanning software HP Easy Start is sufficient:

Hey

No need to install anything, just using a low-end scanner like the one in this multifunction device, Fax and Basic Scanning in Windows 1x is more than enough

Hp Easy Start is just another unnecessary hassle, typical of HP, just as useless as HP Smart.
