PCIe 4.0 8x Graphics Card on PCIe 3.0 16x

Hello,

I plan to set up a configuration with an RTX 3050 that connects to a PCIe 4.0 slot in 8x, but I was interested in a motherboard that has a PCIe 3.0 slot in 16x. Is it possible to install my graphics card on this motherboard?

Hello,

All PCI-Express standards are inter-compatible.

The bandwidth per lane is doubled with each revision of the standard, so PCI-E 4.0 x8 is theoretically equal in bandwidth to PCI-E 3.0 x16.
