Hello to the whole community

I installed a USB external hard drive on my Freebox Pop,

everything is working properly.

I would like to know if it is possible to back up my MacBook Air with Time Machine on this hard drive

if yes, what is the procedure

thank you for your answers

Hi

Have you activated Mac sharing on the box?

If so, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to do it (here, with an SSD in ext4)

Hello

to modify the settings of my Freebox

I need to connect to Freebox OS

however I am currently abroad, (connection impossible)

as soon as I return I will inform you of the result

Anyway, the MAC and the Freebox need to be on the same local network.

Hello,

we should be able to access the shares through VPN, right?

Hello

I deduce that Time Machine only works with an external drive connected to the delta, not with an internal drive?

Hello,

The hard drive for the Freebox is in Linux format, while your Mac uses apfs partition format, so it won't work!

Hi

Not on a POP

It's an external disk

It could very well be, for example, in ext4

Hello,

It has nothing to do with it, a network share is not related to disk formatting which remains tied to the local OS, unlike a removable drive.

Well then,

MacOS supports CIFS (Windows network) through Samba, and probably NFS, I don't know if FBX offers it.

Both are network file systems.
