Hello,

I own a Microstar PC MT6, this PC is 20 years old and I would like to open it to clean it. However, even after removing all the screws from the case, I can't get it open, nothing moves, nothing slides... Thank you in advance!

Hello, can you take pictures of your case and show them to us?

According to my research, this is a Medion Titanium ATX case, is that correct?

If so, it opens from the left side; it must certainly be stuck. You should use a can of compressed air or a toothpick to clean the groove between the "cover" and the tower, or the clips may be stuck inside.

In this case, you need to "force" a bit on the cover.

Also, when you say you have all the screws, are you also talking about the front panel of the case? Because often, once the front panel is removed, you can more easily access the bays for hard drives/DVDs, but there may also be screws. Be careful not to force too much when removing the front panel as it contains the cables for the power/reset buttons, the LEDs (indicators), and possibly a fan.

      First of all, thank you!

Sorry to respond to you via this account, I can no longer access the other one.

Indeed, my case opens to the left, so I will follow your advice.
I have removed all the screws, even the ones for the power supply (even though I shouldn't have). My case has no screws at the front, the front may be removable, but I'm not sure.
I should note that this computer is quite old (20 years), it therefore has a floppy disk drive, old connectors, etc.
I will follow your advice and keep you updated. I hope the photos I am sending you will help. Have a good evening!

    Hello blackmefias_3350

At the back of the PC, slide a large flat screwdriver between the right-angled return of the side panel and the back of the PC
to move the side panel back by turning the screwdriver

    See you

It is indeed necessary to try to shift the plate with a flat screwdriver. Also, spray some WD40 with the straw, but be careful not to put too much—just a little spray here and there—and try to move the plate by making slow back and forth motions. Of course, do all of this without the tower connected to the electrical outlet.

Also, remove all cables (monitor, sound, keyboard/mouse, printer, etc.) before applying the WD40. You can find it in supermarkets or DIY stores. WD40 cleans, degreases, and lubricates. You can also ask a neighbor for help.

Should I put WD40 and a flat screwdriver here?

For the screwdriver, use the hooks to try to create a gap between the sheet metal of the tower structure and the panel (enough to apply some WD40, which is for degreasing and cleaning any grime that might block access). You will need to wipe off the WD40, so you will need a piece of cloth or rag or even paper towels.

A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!
I was able to open the computer thanks to the flat screwdriver and WD40. I am very happy about that and indeed a big clean-up is in order! Thank you for your help and perhaps see you next time!

I can't because I don't have access to the WinXP account; in fact, it wasn't an account, but I had just filled in what was necessary to make a request. I will look for a way to do it. Thank you ❤
