Hello,
My grandmother has a Gigaset AS 405 and apparently doesn't have a voicemail on it according to what I've seen in the manual. However, it does show missed calls.
On the missed calls display, there is another option "Rep. ext: 00+**" which, when I click OK, shows a 13-digit number starting with 5038. There's a tone and then I reach the voicemail of a 06 number.
I can't understand what this is or how to make it go away...
Thank you for your advice!

Hello,
Missed calls are when you do not answer. This can trigger a voicemail on the internet service provider's site. To configure the external consultation number, you need to go through menu/voicemail/External Message and enter a number given by the provider.
(see p10: https://gse.gigaset.com/fileadmin/gigaset/images/CustomerCare/Manuals/A4x/A415_A415A_Call_Block/A31008-M2501-F101-1-2X19_01-04-2018_fr_CH.pdf)

Hello,
On a Gigaset Ext. Rep: 00+** means 00 that there are no new messages recorded with your operator and ** that there are no old messages either.
As for missed calls, you need to open the call log and scroll through the numbers to see the numbers of any callers who tried to reach you in your absence.
This will stop the envelope flashing on the handset screen.
You can also clear the entire list.
Excerpt from the manual (provided by jeepee on page 9)
As a rule, you should never call back a number you don't know. If a caller really wants to reach you, they will either call back or leave a message.
Calling back an unknown number exposes you to the risk of unknowingly calling a premium rate number.
Very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room.
Especially when it's not there...-
Hi,
Regarding your explanation, I'm wondering how a phone terminal can know the voicemail messages recorded with the operator, which it is not supposed to control.- I admit I don't know how it works..
but what is certain is that the handset does indeed display
Ext.rep: 00+** as long as there are no new or old messages.
Ext.rep 02+02 if, for example, there have been two new messages and still 2 older ones not deleted
The request for display may happen when we access this external voicemail. Or perhaps as soon as a new message is recorded with the operator, it sends the info to the phone?
Note that the same type of display is used for missed calls or calls on the internal voicemail.
Note here is an excerpt from the manual of my Gigaset C150 (almost 20 years old)

Anyway,
to delete that, you probably need to erase the messages from the external voicemail.

What Bubulle wants to delete is not in his operator's voicemail since the display shows 00+** (the operator's voicemail is completely empty).
What he wants to delete is a number (or several) appearing in the call log.
For that, there is everything needed in the phone menu to delete an entry from this log or the entire list.
See excerpt from the manual in message #2. -

I have a Gigaset AS470H, which operates similarly, and I conducted some tests. Both the local answering machine and the operator's answering machine are disabled. I reactivated the operator's answering machine (Free) and made several calls to this phone. The External Messages counter never retrieved the number of messages on the Free answering machine, whether new or read, even after picking up or checking voicemail. It might be a feature that only makes sense with a private telephone network, like in a business?
As for that counter, does it work for you if your operator's answering machine is activated?
What we can suggest to Bubulle is to check if the operator's answering machine is activated, either on the website of the operator in question or simply by calling the phone from another phone without answering. If it's active, it might be interesting to retrieve the number to check the messages (free: **1) and listen to them.
If the External Messages counter is useless (no external voicemail) or non-operative (like in my case), it would be more interesting to configure the phone not to display this counter and go directly, using the Message button, to the display of the received calls counter. To do this, go to Menu/Answering Machine/Ext Msgs and delete the number displayed. -
Hi jeepee
I just tried to call my landline from my mobile
If I put my own voicemail on hold after 5 rings, it’s the Orange voicemail that answers and if I leave a message then yes, my phone indicates a new message (flashing envelope) and if I check I indeed have
Ext.Msg 01+**
I am with Orange.
Edit regarding the call log display...
In the absence of messages recorded by the internal or external voicemail, when opening the log, the numbers (or names if in the directory) of the missed calls are displayed first. -
