I bought a phone not long ago, it's a Redmi 9C, and I saved a contact, and when I send SMS to that person, I see a lock icon and I need to have internet to send the SMS.
I would like to remove the lock icon please.

It is possible that this person is using an iPhone.
The messaging service for iPhones is iMessage, which uses mobile data. Hence the need to use the Internet (4G).
I have no other explanation.
You have the solution: keep mobile data active.
The data consumption is very low for a text message; you won't even notice it.
