Hello, I wanted to uninstall the driver for my sound card to force it to reinstall with the latest version because I can't find stereo mixing in my settings (a method I saw online).

To do this, I went to Device Manager - Sound, video and game controllers - Intel Smart Sound Technology, then right-click "uninstall device."

Unfortunately, now when I click "scan for hardware changes," the search finds nothing and I don't know how to reinstall the driver. I have no audio input or output devices when I go to the control panel. And the little speaker has an X in the notification area.

Windows Update finds nothing.
I tried with the Intel Driver Assistant, but it only detects 2 updates that have nothing to do with it (graphics + wifi).
I also tried with the "touslesdrivers" software, but got the same result as above.

Does anyone have any idea how to get "Intel Smart Sound Technology" back in my devices?

    for this one --> INTELAUDIO\LINKTYPE_03&DEVTYPE_04&VEN_8086&DEV_AE34&SUBSYS_00000001&REV_0001

    do this:

    1) download 7zip to your desktop --> click here

    run it as administrator (right-click) to install

    2) Download this driver --> click here
    and put it in your documents.
    Right-click on --> Intel-FORCED-HDA-10x64-RTM-SST_09.22.00.4078-drp.zip
    Select --> 7Zip
    Choose --> extract to "Intel-FORCED-HDA-10x64-RTM-SST_09.22.00.4078-drp\"
    Go to Device Manager.
    Right-click on the device --> INTELAUDIO\LINKTYPE_03&DEVTYPE_04&VEN_8086&DEV_AE34&SUBSYS_00000001&REV_0001
    Update driver
    Browse my computer ......
    Choose from a list of drivers...
    Have disk
    Browse
    Go to your documents
    Go to the folder of the unzipped driver --> Intel-FORCED-HDA-10x64-RTM-SST_09.22.00.4078-drp
    Folder --> Intel
    Folder --> FORCED
    Folder --> HDA
    Folder --> 10x64
    Folder --> RTM
    Folder --> SST_09.22.00.4078
    Select the file --> IntcSST.inf and OK

    when it's done, check what it looks like in Device Manager, and let me know if you need a driver for the 2nd one --> INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_280D&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000\4&5a088b0&0&0201

      Well, a big thank you to you Billmaxime!
      I followed your steps for the first driver and I found the "intel smart sound technology" device in the audio controller.
      For the second one, I didn't need to because I had done a restore point before deleting the other drivers.
      The audio works like before, phew...
      Thanks again sincerely for all the time you spent helping me.

    Hello,

    You can try DriversCloud, similar to allthedrivers.
    On the support page for your computer/sound card, there should definitely be the driver available (Intel SST)...
    And sometimes we don't think about it, but a simple reboot at least resets to a generic driver.

    Best regards.

    Thank you for your help; I tried the Intel Driver Assistant and DriversCloud. They do the search well, I have some suggestions for newer drivers, but nothing regarding the audio/sound part of my system.

    give me the device ID that I've highlighted --> click here

    PS: the 1st line is enough, post it via 1 copy/paste in your reply

    example --> PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1690&SUBSYS_80001025&REV_01

    Hello billmaxime, thank you for looking into my problem. Here is what you asked for:

    The device INTELAUDIO\LINKTYPE_03&DEVTYPE_04&VEN_8086&DEV_AE34&SUBSYS_00000001&REV_0001

    At the point I was at, I also uninstalled the "intel audio" device, here’s what I get:

    And here is the information for the 2nd line:

    The device INTELAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_280D&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000\4&5a088b0&0&0201 requires that the installation be continued.
