Thunderbird importer/exporter des mails

I simply copied (copy-paste) the directory under Windows containing the profile and emails. Note that I am on Vista.
c:\Users/[username]/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles
copied profile.ini + the directory [xxxxxxxxx].default
which I recopied into the Linux Thunderbird directory
(you must first give permission to read hidden files and directories in the program's "workstation" preferences
/home/[username]/.mozilla-thunderbird

then, I modified the profile.ini like this:
note: bdo4hk4x.default is the name of the email directory from my PC, you need to use the values from yours.

upon restarting Thunderbird, it asked me which profile to use and I chose my old account and

There is a problem with the configuration of the profile.ini file, and indeed if at the first restart of Thunderbird it asks which profile to use, this does not allow changing profiles at will.

There is finally a simple solution: launch Thunderbird, and definitely DO NOT CHECK MAIL (or work OFFLINE) to avoid muddling the contents of the mailboxes from the different profiles. Go to (without forgetting what is advised by geef) Tools -> "Account Settings". A window will open.
In the "Local Folders" section, in the "Account Settings" part -> Click on the Browse button, navigate through the tree to the "Local Folders" directory, which is something like this:

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ow2bh2ov.default\Mail\Local Folders
Click OK.

Another method:
You can proceed by "Copy-Paste" from the Explorer window. You need to copy the full path, including "Local Folders". You CANNOT directly copy the path from the title bar of the Explorer window.
First you need to highlight the content of the title bar:

finally paste the path in the "Account Settings" window of Thunderbird after highlighting the "Local Directory" line:

With either method, to finish:

Reconnect and restart Thunderbird. It should work now.
The correct hierarchy will display with the desired emails.
