EATON ELLIPSE PRO 850 inverter failure Solved

Question

Hello, Yesterday, my inverter turned off while I was away, and ever since I've been trying to turn it on, the power button (no. 6 in the manual) only holds for a few seconds (it makes a small mechanical noise). Of course, the backed-up outlets are not powered, but the protected outlet is powered.. The screen stays on. The green charge indicator (no. 7) stays lit (indicator with up and down arrows and electric symbol). This inverter is from 08/2016, the same for the battery. I removed the battery after about 6 hours of charging, it gives me 10.5 V. The circuit breaker protection (no. 20) seems to reset. My question is: Could the battery be dead and would that explain this malfunction? Because if the battery needs to be replaced, that's fine, but given the price of the inverter, I don't think I'll go for a repair that could be too costly. Thank you for your replies.

Hello There is a good chance that the battery is dead; a battery, depending on the model, costs around €25 to €40 on Amazon. An uninterruptible power supply battery lasts on average 4 - 5 years.

Hello, Thank you for your quick response. So, according to you, a dead battery could explain this failure? I forgot to mention that this failure occurs when no equipment is plugged into the UPS.

you say yourself that you measured 10.5 volts on the battery after a charge. The voltage is too low for a 12v battery, so what do you conclude? . And to specify that there is nothing simpler than replacing a battery on an uninterruptible power supply. 4 screws to open the cover and you can see the battery.

I think you meant "not too complicated" because removing 4 screws can't be "too complicated"? . Certainly, you need to take the battery's measurements, but on it, there is a brand, a model, voltage, and amperage. So it's with this information that we can find a battery of the same type or an equivalent from another brand. There are plenty of websites on the Web that provide this kind of information. . Also, be aware that you can increase the amperage of the battery while staying within the same dimensions. This allows for better inverter autonomy.

Hello. Even if you find a 100 Ah battery and manage to fit it, it won’t destroy your inverter. It's important to understand the difference between amperes and voltage. If you haven't found a battery of the same dimensions over 10 Ah, no worries. Sure, with an extra amp, you won't gain much, maybe 1 to 3 minutes of additional runtime, but it's still something.
