My M.2 SSD is not recognized in the BIOS

So, to start, hello/good evening everyone.

I hope you are all doing well and that someone can help me and respond quickly lol!

Actually, I have a problem and this is the first time I’m asking for help on a forum, but maybe someone can help me ????????


Actually, I have a problem that occurred really overnight, my PC no longer wants to boot into Windows!

Let me explain, when I turn on my PC and don’t touch anything, I just leave it alone (as usual), my PC displays an error message:
“Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media unselected Boot device and press a key” (attached image)

And even if I restart my PC, etc., etc., the problem will be the same.

The only thing I can do is go into the BIOS and there I realize that my m.2 SSD is not recognized in the BIOS (attached image). Whereas my 1TB HDD is recognized just fine (attached image).
I really don’t understand why, so I remove it and put it back, I try the 2nd slot, I try lots of little tricks but nothing works, it is still not detected by the BIOS, by my motherboard.

So that’s my problem, I would really like some help because I need to get my PC back as soon as possible, and I don’t think the problem is very serious but I can’t resolve it, HELP!!

And also:
-My motherboard: Asus Tuf Gaming B550m Plus (WIFI)
-My m.2 SSD: Toshiba THNSNJ128G8NU (120GB)
-My HDD: HGST HTS541010A9E680 (1000GB)

If anyone asks:
-Processor: Ryzen 5 3500
-RAM: 2x8 GB Samsung green RAM 2666MHz
-Graphics card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060

    If the SSD is no longer recognized in the BIOS, it is either poorly connected or, more likely, defective.

      If you had just installed Windows and your SSD wasn't booting, I would tell you that it's a BIOS issue in UEFI mode instead of Legacy, or vice versa. But since this happened suddenly, I think it's more likely a defective SSD issue.

      Can you please tell me a bit more about how to change the type to UEFI or Legacy? Also, I looked up some information and apparently, if my SSD were defective, it would still be detected since the slot would be occupied by the SSD but wouldn't work!!
      However, in this case, it's really not detected at all.
      I had already encountered this little problem when I changed my motherboard during the Christmas holidays this year, so two months ago, but I can't quite remember how it started working again, and now the problem is back again!!!
      I'm fed up :/, but thank you anyway for your help...

      It's simple, you just need to switch from UEFI mode to Legacy or vice versa, the current mode is indicated on one of the BIOS screens, you just have to modify it, but I doubt that's the issue; I lean more towards a problem with the SSD.

      Thank you very much for your reply, I just found and tried both modes but nothing works.
      I think you might be right about the SSD problem!!

      But if that's the case, can I repair it or at least recover my data like the files, see my Windows, or is it lost because that's really what I was holding on to and didn't want to lose, I have HYPER important documents!!

      I hope so anyway!

    Hello,

    In some BIOS, you have to navigate to see it, and the fact that the PC won't boot is proof that it's there; in my opinion, this is still a problem with UEFI and the partition table, it's quite common, to be honest.

        It's up to you to look for it, I don't know all the bios, by putting it in French, by digging a little and doing some research on the web, it's relatively simple, the legacy mode is often called CSM which needs to be disabled, that's all, but you will have to convert your disk or reinstall Windows in GPT.

        Look on the malekal website for details.

    an SSD is just electronics and it can fail at any moment
    it no longer appears on the first page of the BIOS
    only the HDD appears

    I'm going to try to set my system to Legacy instead of UEFI, but I’m not sure where to access this setting!

    And for my defective SSD, I really can't do anything, because on another PC when it's placed, it’s detected, it’s really just on the motherboard!

    If it is detected on another PC, test it with "crystaldiskinfo" to check its health status! For boot access, press F8 at startup, I saw that in your BIOS photo, switch from UEFI to legacy to test!
