Disconnecting ports: DLINK DGS-1210-24 Switch

Hello,

I have ports that randomly disconnect on some of my DLINK switches. Do you have any suggestions to prevent these disconnections?

- The switches have been updated to the correct time and the configuration has been saved.
- All switches have been restarted.
- The problem persists even if I plug my computer into another port on the same switch.

Best regards,

Hi, the computers are losing connection. When I check the logs in the switch, the ports disconnect (link down / link up) by themselves randomly.

All alone or is it the PCs?
Do users restart the PC in case of connection loss?

The PCs lose connection and regain it after a while, nothing more.
Yes, the PCs are restarted frequently. I have the issue with both heavy clients and thin clients.

Is it the connection to a server or to the internet that is lost?
Because it could be a problem with the application that freezes and the client gets out of it by restarting the PC.
And that's when your poor switch gets blamed even though it's not to blame, it's just the PC that is off.
It would be best if a blocked or disconnected client doesn't touch anything until you've verified yourself that the switch port is indeed down and if their PC responds to ping.
In general, we don't monitor user ports on switches in the logs for this reason: you get alarms every time a user restarts.
We only monitor trunk ports between switches and towards servers and routers, all that is not supposed to be turned off.

I've already tested it, when the PC loses the connection it doesn't ping anything, neither the internal server nor the internet nor any network peripheral.
Some ports of the switch disconnect and I don't understand the cause.

Here are the log reports from a DLINK switch for example port 12:

And the cable test gives us an error on all pairs (this is not the case for port 6 though which disconnects just as much):

Indeed, it's worrying and it seems quite physical...
I wouldn't want to be in your shoes.
First, change the switch if you only have one.
After that, it could be the wiring, but happening on multiple ports at the same time seems unlikely.
        Do the ports support POE?
Do you know how it started?

I would like to change the switches indeed, but it's impossible for now...
If the switch was completely inaccessible, I would understand... But here I have several switches in the same situation, and on specific ports.
The ports are not POE, and I don’t know how this occurred...
