Hello everyone,
After extensive research and a persistent issue, I hope to find my answer on this forum.
First of all, here is the setup I have:
- TV: Philips 43PUS6804/12
- Soundbar: Sonos Beam Gen 2 (single HDMI 2.1 port)
- PS5 (single HDMI 2.1 port)
Here are the connections I've made:
- the Sonos soundbar is connected to the HDMI ARC port of my TV
- the PS5 is connected to the second available HDMI port (still on the TV)
Here are the settings I have also made:
- I set the TV to "Multichannel Pass-through" mode
- I enabled "Dolby" mode in the PS5 settings
However, when I activate this Dolby mode (or even DTS), a slight delay appears between the picture and the sound (the sound "appears" slightly after the image). It's a slight delay, but significant enough to be noticeable. The surround experience is ruined, and I have to choose the "Linear PCM" option on the PS5 (stereo sound) so that the sync between the picture and sound is perfect.
By the way, here are the tests I have conducted to try to resolve the issue:
- when I play a 4k Blu-ray movie on the PS5, I can then choose the "Dolby Bitstream" option (which I do not have in the basic PS5 menu). I then get Dolby Atmos from the soundbar, perfectly synced with the picture. No problems here, the experience is perfect.
- when I launch Netflix directly from the TV app (not from the PS5), I do get Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 from the soundbar, again without delay. No issues here either.
- same situation when I launch Netflix via the Chromecast connected to my TV, I also get Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 output.
- however, when I launch Netflix from the PS5, I can't get any surround sound. As mentioned earlier, if I choose the Dolby option in the PS5 settings, I experience a sound delay with the picture that is quite unpleasant. I am therefore forced to stick with stereo.
I could indeed use the TV apps/the Chromecast, but using the PS5 daily, I would like to have the best experience possible from the console.
Hoping to find a solution here, thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards.
