Connect fiber box PTIO to DTI box

Hello,

The fiber technician is coming to my house (single-family home) this afternoon.
I have located the PBO in the street and cleared the Telecom access point in front of my house. There are 140 meters between the street and the house; I hope he has enough cable length...

I would need information so I can indicate to him the best location to place the PTIO inside the house; I was thinking of suggesting next to the EDF Linky meter and the DTI socket.

Here is a photo of my current ADSL setup (a bit messy).

Not entirely understanding how I could connect the PTIO with the DTI socket, could you please help me?

Indeed, if I'm not mistaken, all the RJ45 sockets in the different rooms of my house can be connected if I buy a small patch panel?

    Hello,
    this is the right place to install the PTO, next to the DTI, indeed.
    However, it will never be connected to the DTI; it's the output(s) from the box that need to be connected to the patch panel:

    The issue is that your installation is set up for distributing phone lines only and that you do not have a patch panel; you would need to create one by installing RJ45 keystone jacks on your upper DIN rail and bringing your PTT298 cables from the wall outlets to it, disconnecting them from the DTI, which will be unnecessary after fiber installation.
    It's a bit of an investment, but it’s worth it.
    You also need to rewire the wall outlets; I assume they are only wired with 1 pair for the phone instead of 4:



    You definitely won't have time to do all of this today.
    If you have more outlets to power than Ethernet ports on the box, you will also need to add an Ethernet switch.
    If you have your new box installed in the same place as the current one, ask the technician if they can install a long enough fiber patch cord to go from the PTO to where your box is located.

    Last night I ordered this from Amazon, delivered this afternoon:

    We can see in the previous photo that I have 5 RJ45 cables (containing 8 twisted wires)
    There are 2 gray wires connected to the DTI socket that allow me to have ADSL in my living room (for now)

    When the fiber technician has installed the PTO and the ONT, I will connect the wires one by one to the patch panel I bought; that should be enough, or do I also need the "RJ45 connectors"?

      It's sufficient at this level, but you'll need a tool to insert the (Krone tool) and the attachment to the rail will be a workaround.

        This afternoon, if the technician manages to pull the 140 meters of cable to my house, I'm going to ask him for a hand to "connect" my "deleyCON CAT6 Patch Panel 8 Ports," which just arrived in my mailbox this morning; things move quickly these days ;)

        Otherwise, I'll try it with my screwdriver and a small pliers to see how it goes...

        It can be done with a flat and small screwdriver, as well as a small pair of needle-nose pliers to insert thoroughly into the CADs, but it's much faster with the tool (and more reliable).
        Not sure he will agree to step outside his area of expertise to go to the local wiring, but he can at least reach a socket up to where your box is currently located, maybe.

    The technician came, but my junction point (PBO) no longer had any available ports, so he found another one that was available (3 ports remaining) but they need to update the customer information with the other PBO.
    He will return in 1 to 2 weeks to run the fiber to the house.

    He still helped me test the availability of the telecom conduits (4 inspection chambers over 140 meters) and it goes through perfectly even though it is a bit far from the PBO.

    I will keep you updated on the next steps :)

      Yes, you need a check every 40m, of course, the fibers aren't 200m long :-)
      After that,
      there are no available connections on a PBO ....
      there are no connections on a PBO, the fibers are directly welded end to end.
      Without being indiscreet, who is the infrastructure operator (the street) for not having planned your connection on the nearest PBO?
      Or maybe they had too many faulty fibers on that one before and had to use all the reserve ones ....
      Is the other one far away?

    It’s SFR (XP Fibre) that has set up the PBO in my neighborhood and it was the Bouygues fiber technician who came by today

    Actually, I kind of feel like it’s first come first served in my street and housing development.

    Maybe the fiber technicians connect to any available PBO and when there are no ports left, they go to the nearest one next door?

    Otherwise, the technician told me that if we wanted an additional new PBO for our housing development, we would have to ask the town hall... and that would be at least a year wait!

    I hope he can use the nearby PBO with the 3 available connections left
