Slow USB 3.2 drive

Solved

Hello, I bought a LEXAR 64GB USB 3.2 flash drive, I have 3.0 ports on my laptop but despite that, the speed of the files I transfer fluctuates between 50 MB/s and 355 KB/s. I've set the drive to "best performance" and formatted it to NTFS, updated the drivers and BIOS but nothing has helped. What more could I do?
Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

Create a log with your branched key, right-click in the ChipGenius window > Ok > Paste (here)

    https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/ChipGenius.shtml

If you want the latest version, download it here, but your antivirus might detect it (incorrectly)

        Which version did you take?

On usbdev.ru the latest one at the bottom is ChipGenius v4.21.0701 (2021-07-01)

There, I see a Logitech keyboard or mouse

        Was your key plugged in?

Yes, my key was indeed connected, but I definitely took the oldest version of ChipGenius. The newer version you recommended is recognized by antivirus programs; is there any risk?

I downloaded SuperCopier 2.2 Beta and applied the settings you advised, but I notice that the copying freezes at more or less regular intervals during the copy process. Strangely, copying from hard drives works correctly and quickly, unlike from USB drives...

Do you mean that when it's key to key only, it does that?

From hard drive to key, it's fine
From key to key, it's not working

    ?

Maybe it's the USB circuit that works too hard reading from one while it's writing to the other.

It happens to me when I copy from my PC to the USB drive.
When I copy from my PC to my hard drive, it's fast and consistent.

There are also low-quality keys :/

The best option is an external NVME SSD like the Samsung 970 EVO Plus in an ORICO M2PVC3-G20 enclosure

But the SSD attachment in the enclosure is of poor quality, it's better to buy M2.5 or M3 nylon screws and nuts to go with it; I don't quite remember what I used, I had ordered both sizes to be sure.

You insert the screw from underneath, add a nut, place the SSD, and add another nut on top to secure it.

I also added a drop of engine oil to the fan.

My knowledge of computers unfortunately doesn't allow me to assemble an external SSD lol
So if I understand correctly, with everything that has already been tried, since nothing has worked, it's that my USB drive isn't of good quality?

You didn't show me the ChipGenius log of the drive with the latest version, I don't know where you bought it, and we don't even know if it's a real Lexar.

PS: It's very easy to assemble the SSD if you have what you need (Not much, just the SSD, the case, preferably nylon plastic screws (you can find those on eBay), pliers, and a screwdriver).

If it's the Lexar store, there is no risk of counterfeiting.

It's just a compact-sized drive, but not super performant.

The Lexar M45 is more efficient; otherwise, if you want speed in a drive, there are the Sandisk Extreme Pro USB 3.2 Gen 1 sometimes called USB 3.1, but now they send 3.2 Gen 1 (Actually, there isn't really any difference).

Also, there are no viruses on the site usbdev.ru

But there are incompetent antivirus manufacturers...

Indeed, speed is what I'm looking for, along with a certain capacity as well. What characteristics of USB sticks do you rely on besides 3.0/3.1/3.2 to determine the capabilities of the stick? I would like to make a better choice in the future.
In any case, thank you for your help.

You have to try them to know.

It depends on the controller and the memory.

But we don't know what controller you have, only ChipGenius would tell you.

In any case, it might not really help.

Just knowing if it is original, then satisfying our curiosity or repairing a USB drive in some cases by finding the manufacturer's software for the controller.

This is an SMI [Silicon Motion] controller

The SMI tools page at usbdev.ru is here https://www.usbdev.ru/files/smi/

But it probably wouldn't give you anything more to go further.

A tool can also damage a drive; normally we use it to repair, but your drive is not defective until proven otherwise.

The only thing you can do is format it and test it with H2testw to find out if it is reliable, but in my opinion it is, so it would be useless.

        The tool more precisely

        SMI MPTool V2.5.70 v4 S0429v1 [SM3280AB,SM3280BA,SM3280BB,SM3281AB,SM3281BA,SM3281BB] ; SM3280AB_MPtool_S0429v1.rar; 3 201 377 bytes

I will still try the testing tool.
But in the end, my key is just not very performant, is it?

The testing tool that should not be confused is H2testw

Do not confuse the tool for reprogramming the SMI controller MPTool

I believe that’s it, the key is just not very efficient; generally, smaller keys are less efficient and have less capacity.
