Hello, after I allowed the Fujitsu battery update, my screen went dark and the power buttons won't turn on anymore
I've tried unplugging and replugging the battery but nothing works, there's no sign of life, what should I do?

Configuration: Android / Chrome 96.0.4664.45

Hello,

If it's a BIOS update, you shouldn't do anything and let the procedure continue; otherwise, it bricks the BIOS.

I waited 5 hours before trying to turn it on, how long does a BIOS update take?

You just need to follow the procedure in progress, then the PC restarts and that's it in principle, it takes about 5-10 minutes, the thing is that it is strongly advised not to do anything else at the same time.

Hello,

You can try this:
remove the battery, unplug the laptop from the power source and hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
Then put the battery back in, plug it back into the power source, and restart the laptop.

See you later!

Sure, can you be more specific about the brand and type of your phone?

Talk to you soon

Fujitsu Lifebook E544, it's a BIOS update; it turned off as soon as I authorized the update, and the power buttons weren't lighting up either.

Hello,

How did you end up updating the BIOS only now: this PC was released at the end of 2014, and manufacturers don't usually offer BIOS updates ten years later. For this particular PC, the last update seems to date back to 2020. It was intended to fix security vulnerabilities in the processor.

How did you perform this update? Through DeskUpdate or did you choose the file yourself (with the risk of picking the wrong one)?

The problem with BIOS updates is that they must not be interrupted; that's why the PC always needs to be plugged in during the process. If the update is interrupted, the PC is dead because it won't boot anymore, which means you can't restart the update, or it has to be given to a qualified repair person who can reprogram the EEPROM. Given the age of the machine and its current value, I don't think it's worth it.

Hello

If it's really a BIOS problem, the last resort is to buy a BIOS chip; it can be purchased...
You will need to inject the correct BIOS into it using a USB programmer costing about €30, and you will have to desolder the old chip and solder the new one, which means a lot of disassembly and handling, along with other tools like a soldering iron, etc...

This is obviously the last resort; it's not for beginners.

Before that, you can test and check with a multimeter if the battery is functional.

Also test the power socket to see if it is functional; generally, there is a green light on the socket...

My laptop can turn on without a battery when connected to the mains only; try it and let us know. Don't hesitate to press the button in many different ways.

For example, press the "on" button 20 times; if that doesn't work, try holding it down for 20 seconds.

And let us know.
