Hello everyone

So I ordered from AliExpress. My package is supposed to be sent to a pickup point, so there is no address on it, only my name.
My package has been stuck in Liège for 2 days during customs clearance.
I would like to know if I will receive a tax and how since there is no address on the package.

I assure you that you will not have any customs clearance fees because since July 2021, with the new law on dropshipping markets, customers will have to pay VAT. So if you placed an order on Ali, you must have paid VAT, and you won't have any fees.

Yes, VAT was included in the price
The problem is that it is a counterfeit. I read on other forums that we receive a fine after getting a letter from customs. But since my address is on it, I wonder if I will receive something anyway.
I know buying counterfeit is wrong and this experience puts me in a state of distress; I know I will never do it again. ????

Haaaa it's a counterfeit, that changes everything! So customs clearance means that it is in the customs area but it doesn't mean that you will have a fine; however, if customs opens your package, you will have a fine and you may not receive your package. Regarding the fact that you chose Mondial Relay, I don't know if customs will have access to your address & personal data.

Hello,
if your address is not on the package, it is inside the package, customs can open the package and anyway know your address, a package from an eCommerce site is never anonymous.

She’s normally not in the package either because I picked it up at a Mondial Relay point. So it’s the tobacco shop’s address on it. Under no circumstances did I enter my address during the payment.
But I'm still stressed, I don’t want an invoice.

Yes and no, he didn't use the right forum topic, there is a rights and finance topic he could have used. And Aliexpress is not a questionable site, it's a dropshipping site (like Amazon).

Non-legal and finance does not track parcels here; we can't provide him with anything more than what he has on his tracking, so it's preferable to inquire with the service provider responsible for delivery. From what I've seen on the forum, we can only give him speculations, which is to say nothing at all.

Since July 1, 2021, a law has come into effect for all dropshipping sites (Amazon, Wish, Shein, Aliexpress,...) which requires VAT to be applied on all payments made on these sites, so tax evasion is a bit strong!

And precisely because Ali Express (and others) explicitly encouraged tax-free purchasing for everyone, even going so far as to invoke professional billing or to cheat on declared amounts.

If you don't call that encouraging tax fraud, I don't know what you need...

It's true that, until they find the next loophole, they've calmed down; they are going back to their first loves, to, as usual, sell low-quality counterfeit goods on a large scale.

And let's not lose sight of the fact that, apart from the obvious that these anti-competitive practices destroy jobs in other countries, in the field of IT, the only risk is buying junk, and aside from trademark rights, the potential danger is real when buying clothing, toys, and especially when it comes to "miraculous" "medications" whose assembly and composition no one has checked.

The seller on AliExpress isn't responding to me, so oh well. But since this morning, everything is fine. The package has left customs and is in Lille to be delivered to the pickup point. I guess this time it has cleared customs. I'm relieved.

if you have a tax to pay, you will find out when you pick up your package since you will have to pay it to get it, but in my opinion, I doubt it.

One should not play with words: Aliexpress is a site that openly encourages counterfeiting and tax evasion.

That said, if customs intercepts counterfeit goods, the procedure is not to charge fees or a fine on delivery, nor is it supposed to have that power.

It provides for:

- the destruction of the goods at the seller's expense, who will try to pass those costs onto the buyer
- a fine amounting to 1 to 2 times the price of the destroyed goods
- criminal penalties, which can be considerable, but are most often only imposed in cases of large-scale fraud, and it is not customs that will impose them directly, but rather refer the matter to the public prosecutor.

In essence, if the goods arrive safely, that's great; but when you play poker, you know in advance that you can lose and you have to accept that.

So I'm telling you, VAT or not on Aliexpress, I paid customs fees for an item costing 13 euros, and I had to pay 9 euros in tax even though I paid VAT when I placed my order. So their law from July is false.

VAT and customs duties are two different things, and the law in question clearly states:


As of July 1, 2021, all shipments imported from a country outside the European Union are subject to an electronic customs declaration, regardless of the value of the goods
