How to connect a CD player to a car radio?

Hello, I'm a music lover and I need your help!

I need to buy a car, so it should be recent, new or not. But there's no more CD player and I refuse to transfer my CDs to a USB stick (too many and lower quality).

I’ve been told about a portable CD player that could be plugged into a jack input. But there are no more jack inputs! There is an adapter from jack to USB, but if it works, what about the quality (assuming the car's sound system is good)??? I'm clueless when it comes to technology, just a music lover! Thank you.

Hello and welcome to this forum,

The jack adapter solution for USB input may indeed degrade the quality
We live in a time when dematerialization is the norm
There are currently formats for digitization that degrade much less than MP3, such as FLAC for Free Lossless Audio Codec
"It’s THE universal audio format. Lossless means no loss in English, which implies that the audio stream reproduced is rigorously identical to the original. A non-destructive compression is applied (similar to a ZIP archive in a way) to preserve disk space."
But it will indeed be tedious
I call a spade a spade *

Hello,
Without going into technical details, you won't notice any audible quality difference between a CD and its digital format equivalent, or even if you rip it yourself, especially in a car where we’re not looking for Hi-Fi quality.

Then, if you really want to keep the CD format for ease of use, yes you can certainly buy an external player and manage to connect it in the car, but you could just as well change your car radio for a model that has a CD player (a small list...).

Thank you for your reply!
I was expecting to receive an email and haven't returned to the site!
Did you understand that it's apparently a new car (Yaris hybrid)?
1/ How do I connect this external reader? There's nothing, not a single socket, except for the cigarette lighter!
2/ Do you think I can find a car radio that will have EXACTLY the same dimensions as the original one? And will it work without more complications?

Thank you for your response.
