Hello, I would like to know what the account names displayed in gray mean in the story views. When I click on the gray account, I go to the Instagram page and when I return to the views of my story, the account is displayed in normal black mode. But before that, it is always shown in gray.

Hi! I don’t know what it means either, but I would really like to know. However, I can say that it doesn’t mean the person is offline, because I had a greyed-out account in my story that was online; you can see it with the little green dot at the bottom left of their profile picture in the views. Otherwise, I simply asked Instagram about it. I will keep you updated if I get a response or not, because this intrigues me too!
Hello! I think it's when the other person hides THEIR STORIES from you! I'm going to try it as soon as possible: ask a friend to hide their stories from you and then go watch one of your stories, then all you have to do is check if their dot is greyed out in your story!
Hello, I'm getting back to you because, contrary to what I thought, the explanation I gave on January 27th is not the correct one.
So the fact that the circle and the name are grayed out is because WE have hidden the story from this person at some point. I experimented with this this afternoon with a friend; I hid my story from her, we waited a bit, I made it visible again, I posted a story, she went to see it, and when I checked who had viewed it, her circle was grayed out!! THERE IT IS ;-)
