Double spacing text justification in LibreOffice

Hello,

I have a problem when I justify my text on LibreOffice; it creates double spaces between words in order to fill the line until the text is justified. When I use the tab key, the word that creates the double spaces moves to the next line, which makes my text not justified correctly.

Do you have a solution?

    Hi,

    Are those double spaces or just bigger spaces? Do you have to press the return key once or twice to remove them?

    Because that's kind of the principle of justification: we increase the size of the spaces to align the text.

      Yes, sorry I misspoke, it's more that it increases the space between the words to fill the justification. The result for a cover letter is not great...

    To justify, that's the only way. However, if you play with the font size, it might help in some cases, or you could try to insert line breaks on the problematic lines.

    Hello.
    • 1) It is not mandatory to justify text in a cover letter.
    • 2) You can modify the spacing between words in the selected area (usually the problematic line) by clicking Format/Character/Position/Spacing.
    • 3) If the first word of a line is long, insert a conditional hyphen (hyphen for breaking) to make the start of the word move to the end of the previous line.
    • 4) You can also use Tools/Language/Word Break to manage these breaks.
