Hello everyone!
Since I swapped my old and trusty Packard Bell for an Asus Zenbook Pro, I can't seem to get the alt+ shortcuts to work, which are very handy for text entry (for em dashes, for example). I'm primarily on Office 365, and there's no way to make it work. My PC doesn't have a numeric keypad, so I bought one thinking it would solve the problem, but no.
Any solution? *.*

Hello,
you should try with a full keyboard with a numeric keypad in USB.
Otherwise, you have a very well-made utility for special characters: http://wincompose.info/
That should help you out.
For the em dash, you do AltGr (release) ---
AltGr -- gives you the en dash
It’s always AltGr (by default) followed by keys that are often mnemonic for the character.
For example À is AltGr A`
É is AltGr E'
œ is AltGr oe
Easier to remember than unicode...

By trying continuously, we eventually succeed.
So the more it fails, the more chances we have that it works. (the Shadoks)
In addition to the thank you (yes, it happens!!!), remember to mark it as resolved. Thank you.-
Hello,
That's awesome!!! I just downloaded Wincompose and it lets me bypass the numeric keypad issue (because I had indeed already bought a USB numeric keypad, which didn't work). I'm so happy, I found my French quotation marks and my accented capital letters, so THANK YOU!
Problem successfully circumvented!
