Open Windows Explorer from Chrome

Hello,

Before asking the question here, I searched a lot but what I'm trying to do is contrary to everything I find. So here I go:

I am creating a very small intranet in HTML, which will only be accessed by a handful of people within a local network.

In some of my pages, I have inserted UNC links, either to directories or directly to network files.

Except that:
- the directories open in the browser instead of opening a Windows Explorer, like here:
- pdf or Word files are not recognized and the browser forces me to download them.

Note that in IE, files like directories open without any problem because the action is performed from Explorer.
I would prefer to stay on IE but since the design is optimized for Chrome, I would like to avoid having to redo everything...

Do you know if this is possible?

Thank you very much.

Why do we say that the Earth is round, when the world does not turn round?
