Class photos on social media and the internet

Hello,

I discovered that class photos featuring me (from primary and secondary school) have been posted online on the "Copains d'avant" website and on several of my former classmates' social media (Facebook and Instagram).

No faces are blurred or hidden. I never gave my permission and do not wish for my face to appear on the Internet (websites, blogs, social media...). I am not on any social media platforms, either.

How can I get my face blurred or hidden, or even have these photos removed? I don’t know how to proceed on the website in question, and my former classmates on social media refuse to take them down or blur the faces, claiming that I am the only one troubled by it among all the former students... I’m sure some are even unaware that they are displayed online!

Thank you for your responses.

Good evening,

The group photos taken in class can be considered public photos. They are shared with all the students in the class.
During these photo sessions, there are sometimes individual photos which, of course, are private.

Personally, I don't mind that class photos taken 50 or 60 years ago are on Copains d'avant or trombi.com.
In these photos, the faces are anonymous (unless someone has made an identification) and there are so many differences between a child's face and that of an adult that any identification is very difficult.

Me, it’s been between 8 and 20 years. I’m 25, but I don’t like being photographed and especially being displayed on the Internet without permission. And personally, I think I can be recognized even years later because of several moles on my face... When I used to go to amusement parks with the little ones in my family, there was always at least one parent filming their child/children, and since it wasn’t framed, other kids and adults ended up being filmed too. If they keep it to themselves, that’s fine, but if they post it on the Internet and social media, I really don’t like that at all.

Hi,

I support you Lilo. You're right, you can recognize a 5-year-old kid even when he's 30 years older.

Unfortunately, for some people, privacy no longer exists.

Yes. There is always a way to recognize, if they are not moles, they are birthmarks, a recognizable dentition...
Thank you for the support. Have a good evening.

Thank you. Furthermore, I was a minor at the time.

I feel like this process is going to be long.

Today, I learned that some children in my family had their faces posted on Instagram because some parents of their classmates uploaded their class photos without informing the other parents. It's really shameful to have this kind of practice, especially when it involves minors...

Unfortunately, it is a "trend" to publish everything and anything... and indeed, to have it deleted and then de-indexed... by the various search engines (since it's not just Google...) there is "work" to be done....

Good luck......
