Livebox 5 Wi-Fi Issues

Hello everyone,

Orange came to install fiber for me about a week ago, I'm with Orange and I have the Livebox 5; no apparent issues as they had told me about 400 Megas and that's what I'm getting even on Wi-Fi next to the box. You might be wondering: but what’s the problem then?

We're getting there! The Wi-Fi range is simply unacceptable. In the next room, separated by a thin wall, we are already down to 50 Megas. Upstairs, where my office is located, I’m only getting 20 Megas!!

After talking to Orange on the phone, I reset the box, split the connection into 2.4 and 5, tried on multiple devices, and even completely changed the box. Nothing works, I have fiber next to the box but in the next room, I’m left with pathetic ADSL speeds.

I also bought a TP-Link 1750 repeater and it’s still the same problem with nearly nonexistent speeds...

I also tried using powerline adapters and once again, I’m getting about 25 Megas.

Please note that I absolutely cannot run an Ethernet cable.

Thank you very much for the help I’m sure you will be able to provide!

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 89.0.4389.90

No other solution than this? If not, will my issue be resolved (without a loss of speed, I mean, at least not much)?

Thank you :)

Yes,
as I told you, to set up Ethernet cables.
With Wi-Fi, you'll inevitably lose speed compared to a direct cable connection; how much depends a lot on the environment, but you will certainly do better than what you currently have, much better even. The Wi-Fi from routers is the bare minimum, far below what fiber can provide.
The only solution for good coverage is to multiply access points using 802.11ac or ax, there's no other solution:
The 5 GHz and even 6 GHz offer good speed, but reduced range; you need to relay signal effectively, in a separate channel, which repeaters do not do: they take up twice as much Wi-Fi network bandwidth.
