Livebox 2 Wi-Fi Issue Solved

Question

Hello, I have a Livebox 2 and I'm experiencing a problem: it no longer emits a Wi-Fi connection. My Livebox is normally on: the @ button is green and the Wi-Fi button is green, but it is undetectable by my devices (iPhone, iPad, ASUS laptop). I have tried disabling and re-enabling the Wi-Fi, but it didn’t work. I also restarted it without any results; however, it works perfectly via cable. I don't understand.
Please help me, thank you.

Hello and thank you for the info. Indeed, a stop/start of the LB for 1 minute unlocked the situation even though everything showed as okay in the LB regarding Wi-Fi.

The issue described seems to correspond to a "classic" drop of the Wifi AP (Access Point) function of a number of ADSL modems (also seen with Freebox v5). The exact origin is less obvious to determine, but if you follow the troubleshooting procedure proposed below, you should be able to partially rule out either the hardware or the software.

For the solution, the first thing to do is to check the configuration of the Livebox via the Web interface:
- Check that the Wifi network function is enabled
- Verify that the transmission channel is correct (try changing it if necessary)
- Make sure the SSID name is being transmitted (this is what we see in Windows Zero Config)
- Turn off the Livebox (unplug it)
- Turn the Livebox back on, e.g., after 45 seconds.
- Check that the Wifi card is not disabled

If, after the "hard reboot" and changing the transmission channels (make several attempts and if necessary choose a channel that does not correspond to the channels used by the other perceived networks), there is still no network, there is an 80% chance that the problem is hardware-related. You should then call the hotline to request a modem replacement.

If the network reappears, then it is 80% likely to be a software issue (replacing the Livebox will not solve anything, and the issue will likely recur). This type of failure typically occurs during the period corresponding to the arrival of a new firmware version (aka. Micro-program).

After changing the channel (try 10 or 11) and/or rebooting, if the problem persists, perform a factory reset of the Livebox (that's what the Orange hotline will have you do anyway).

It's in the Configuration menu === Troubleshooting and maintenance

Be careful, if it's a Sagem, the configuration will be lost and you will need to re-enter it manually.
If it's a ZTE, you can back it up and restore it later.

Make sure you have the ADSL identifiers (like fti/xxxxxx) and password beforehand.

Well, I just went to the Livebox site and it came back by itself. I think I activated MAC security or something like that; anyway, there was MAC in the phrase and it's a checkbox option, so if you have the same problem, try checking it, it might come back like it did for me.
