Hello,
I just downloaded version 78.1 of Thunderbird: the old one was failing to download my messages (it was unresponsive) and I had to remove it from the dock. Every time I tried to reload it, I got the message "cannot open the Thunderbird application because it may be damaged or incomplete" - whereas just yesterday, everything was fine.
I forgot my password for the old version and the system rejects all my login attempts on the new version: it asks me to enter a new password but does not accept it.
Thank you for helping me, knowing that I am TERRIBLE with computers and that the vocabulary used is completely incomprehensible to me.
Configuration: Macintosh / Thunderbird

Hello @AMD,
Thunderbird doesn’t have its own password (except for the rarely used global password)
The password requested by Thunderbird is that of the email account which is set up and allows you to view this same account live on the server.
To retrieve the password for your email account, go through the "forgot password" procedure of your Internet service provider.
Don't forget to check the box "use password manager" when entering this password at Thunderbird's request so that Thunderbird remembers it and does not ask for it again.
