Of course, if you do not wish for renewal, you can disable it.

One cannot speak of a scam if you did not read the terms and conditions beforehand. Even less so if you did not disable the option.
It is your responsibility to read a contract before 'signing' it, this is the case for the purchase of a sofa, a car, or an online purchase.

Good evening, yes, I just received 2 reminders, one in writing and one by email, even though I had cancelled the automatic renewal of my "elite rencontre" subscription 6 months ago... they really are scammers, definitely do not go on this site that preys on people's gullibility, I am within my rights and not about to let myself be robbed of 117 euros for a fictitious service, since I cancelled everything beforehand... really taking advantage of such a system is outrageous, what is the fraud control doing about such scams??? I fully intend to contact a consumer association...

Elite Rencontre is by far the worst site I've tested: no correlation between the suggested profiles and the criteria we take the trouble to define, a huge number of inactive profiles, very few profiles nearby (after all, Rouen is not really a lost village in the mountains...) a very expensive site, a grim interface... in short, a site to avoid, bordering on fraud: not for the termination conditions in my case but for false advertising!

We are well aware of the abusive and commercial methods that this kind of site uses, whether or not you read the contract, there is a logic to adhere to in relation to an internet user...

I assure you that in court, it won't be the complainant who loses... because there are many things that are borderline, even going well beyond the limits of ridiculousness..

Are you part of the elite-rencontre team? If so, tell them to start paying attention to the GDPR, because they are very far from being up to date with that...

You are registered on CCM, you are supposed to know where you are, does a public forum ring a bell?
It has nothing to do with anyone, neither elite, nor Microsoft, nor the local pub.

However, when we remind people of the legal rules because we can't do anything else, it doesn't please them. And then we wonder why people get "screwed over", look for the mistake. Just because we deny the facts doesn't change reality, and that's exactly what's happening here.

Anyway, if you have complaints, or better yet, evidence (GDPR), why not, I invite you to file a complaint against their site. Europe takes this very seriously (GDPR).
But "whining" on a forum that has no connection, I don't really see the point.

To warn people hoping to find a site that sorts things for them at a first level of education and culture that this is not at all the case with Elite... and that indeed there is the downside of automatic renewal with no possible recourse. It doesn't seem unreasonable to me for a forum topic ;)

Yes, same here. I wasn't going to the site anymore and I received a fine saying that I didn't renew my subscription. I'm not going to pay it... 84 euros. And it's impossible to reach them by phone to tell them I don't want to renew my membership.

I hope I won't end up in prison because of Elite Rencontre ????

Catastrophic! Very few profiles in the provinces! No life! Nothing is happening! Messaging rejects some common words in French - frequent connection issues - I am also subscribed to Disons demain: that's a whole different story... It has life... - Élite rencontre: nothing is happening! I subscribed for 6 months, and 3 months before, they notify me of the expiration date, to give a chance that I forget + automatic renewal - Honestly, for someone living in the provinces, it's useless!

Your site has a terrible value for money. I am obviously dissatisfied with this automatic renewal as I hardly ever use this site. I have no contact, unlike other dating sites, which are often free. It's a shame that you take advantage of your customers with such absolutely unjustified prices. Rest assured that I will never subscribe again!

You are on a public and free forum here. This means that your opinion is visible to everyone, including them.
I would just like to remind you that fraud is a legally defined term and that if the fraud is not legally founded, it is defamation, which is punishable and could just as easily turn against you legally.

Once again, I repeat, it is your responsibility to read a contract before subscribing to anything.
If you do not do so, it is your problem, but it will be difficult for you to accuse them because you do not read the said contract.

I think you are mistaken and you understand what you want to understand.
I am not defending anything.
But you are talking about a scam, I am simply telling you that it is a legal definition. You do not want to take that into account.
I remind you that the basic principle to avoid being "had" is to READ the terms of service, just like with anything else. You do not want to take that into account either.

Your frustration is understandable but it remains your frustration; next time, read before signing and you will save time, money, and trouble.

There is no obligation to find the charming prince or princess; if there is a dispute regarding the subscription or cancellation conditions and unless you can specifically demonstrate that they are systematically dishonest (good luck...), it goes through requests in due form, formal notice, mediation, before this time a summons to the Civil concerning a commercial dispute.

You won't do it because, assuming you are in the right, it will cost you much more than it will bring you, and it has nothing to do with "scam" or fraud but only with a possible failure to perform a contract.
