Unable to update BIOS

Good evening,
I ordered a new graphics card: the RX5700XT from AMD, and while waiting for it to arrive, I thought I would prepare the ground, so I installed a BIOS update for my motherboard: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/H310M-PRO-M2
I placed the extracted BIOS file from the zip file onto my blank USB stick formatted to FAT32 and launched the BIOS in flash mode. The problem is, when I try to perform the update, it detects the USB stick but not the BIOS file. I also tried with another USB stick or formatting this one to NTFS.
I found no solution.
Can you help me?
Thank you and have a good evening,
Silenzay

Hello
is it the zip file " 7B28vAB.zip "?
and the bios file " E7B28IMS.ABO "?

Yes, indeed, but I just pasted the .ABO file onto the USB stick and there was no folder, just the ABO file. My current version is EB915IMS.C10. Do I need to first install a version that is newer than what I currently have but older than the latest version?

Normally, no
are you sure you are taking the BIOS of the right motherboard (correct reference)
because the oldest version from 02/08/2018 is "E7B28..." and not "EB915..." as you say.

According to Userbenchmark, I indeed have an H310 Pro M2 with a BIOS version dated April 27, 2018. If I want to be absolutely sure, I suppose the model of the motherboard is marked on it and that I need to open my case?

Well, I don't see what else I could do, is it really necessary to update the BIOS?

Good evening, is this method risky? Because I really don’t want to make a wrong move or have to change the motherboard because of it. And what if the BIOS doesn’t recognize any files on the USB stick or if it is unusable? Do you think it is useful to update my BIOS if I don’t have any problems or if I’m not changing the CPU?
Thank you and have a good evening,
Silenzay.

Otherwise, can I try to update my BIOS from this one by directly renaming the file on the USB stick to MSI.ROM?

Silenzay Posted messages 49 Status Membre 7

It doesn't work, even renamed, it doesn't detect the file.

Otherwise, can I update my BIOS with MSI LIVE UPDATE 6?

If the GPU does not require a BIOS update, no, you do not need to update it

PS: I checked the manufacturer's website for your motherboard, and I do not see any BIOS dated April 27, 2018, nor the version you provided --> My current version is EB915IMS.C10

The closest date you mentioned is --> 7B28vA2 from 2018-04-03

They are all versions --> E7B28IMS + the description of the version

The page of the manufacturer's site --> click here

As for the update via the Flash BIOS button, there are such comments under the video (with 1 response from MSI France)

WARNING: the motherboard is different from yours

Is there a risk of flashing the BIOS?
I have an MSI B450 Gaming Plus and I would like to install my Ryzen 3600X on it but I do not have a first or second generation processor to perform the BIOS update

MSI France

Hello. With this motherboard model, you can perform a flash without a processor using the Flash BIOS button. To do this, you first need to download version 7B86v18 of the BIOS from the page https://fr.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450-GAMING-PLUS#support-cpu. Then, rename the file to MSI.rom and save it to the root of your USB drive (only FAT32 drives are compatible with Flash BIOS). Connect the power supply to the CPU_PWR1 and ATX_PWR1 connectors (no other components are needed). Connect your USB drive containing the MSI.rom file to the Flash BIOS port located on the rear I/O panel. Press the Flash BIOS button. The LED next to it will start flashing. Once the flashing procedure is complete, the LED will stop flashing.

Why not contact MSI France to inquire

If you tell me that no updates are necessary, then I won't take any risks and won't do them, but thank you for your help; it will surely be useful later if I want to change my CPU or if I have problems with my BIOS.
Have a good evening,
Silenzay.
