Hello,
let's say it right off the bat, I'm not good at anything related to the Internet, but by necessity I use it, especially now that I'm retired and often go on FB.
From what I understand, there are two distinct things on FB: the homepage (where I can see what my contacts publish) and my personal page.
I've noticed that when I write a comment about one of my contacts' posts and then "share" that same post on my timeline, my comment does not appear!
Is this normal? Or is there a step I am unaware of? In that case, what should I do for the comment to "follow" the share on my timeline?
Best regards from 30,
Michel
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 81.0

Hello
Well, that's normal...
X publishes something = publication 1 with a possible comment.
Y shares the publication = publication 2 = it creates a whole new blank publication = Y's friends can comment on the shared publication
That being said, if you click on the original publication, you will find the comments attached to publication 1...
Why do you want to forward your comment? What is the point?
;)

Good evening Radinoz
and thank you for your response.
I will try to be clear ... but first of all, know that I chose the "public" option, that is to say (if I understood correctly?) that anyone can see what I publish. This is in the hope that old friends (I lived in Montreal for several years, hence my nickname) will spot me. I have found a few thanks to FB.
So be it.
So why do I want to share my comment? A real-life example from yesterday and you will understand.
A Montreal friend posted on his wall an article from the "Journal de Montréal" that speaks volumes about the problems that Quebec society is currently facing (I won't elaborate further...). So I made a laudatory comment on the quality of the article along with the mention: "must read" because there was only the title and it needed to be opened, and I shared it on my wall. You will have understood, this comment was also directed at my French contacts to encourage them to read it, and there ... of course, as you said, my comment was no longer there. So my contacts who visited my page saw the title of this newspaper and very few would have had the "desire" to open it.
Do I just have to "copy" my friend's comment from his wall to mine?
You might say that I had the option to share directly on my wall and add my comment! Yes, alright ... but at that point, my Quebec friend wouldn't see it ...
Oh! Damn... I’m getting lost ...
Another question:
FB offers the possibility to send messages. If I send one to a person I find on FB but with whom I am not friends, will she receive it?
My wife bought me "Facebook for Dummies" a few months ago ... Unfortunately... I can't find it anymore ...
Sorry for being a bit long...
Have a good evening,

No worries ;)
All I have to do is "copy" my friend's comment on my wall?
Yes, but not in a comment, as a status... Click on share..., select "news feed", you should see a sort of white rectangle below the article
You write your text above the link to the article, in the white part... (it says "say something about this"
And then you click on publish.
You could tell me that I had the option to share directly on my wall and add my comment! Yes, that's true... but at that moment my Quebec friend wouldn't see it...
Every time you share something, Facebook sends a notification to contacts to alert them that you shared their status... so yes, he will know anyway... and he will even have the direct link to your wall to see your share
FB offers the option to send messages. If I send one to a person I find on FB but with whom I am not friends, will they receive it?
Yes, but it lands in their spam... if they check it regularly, that's good... but some people don't know this box exists (even though it has been there since the beginning of FB) and will therefore never see it.

Good evening Radinoz
Thank you for your explanations that I will make sure to put into practice this weekend (I will be more relaxed).
However, I went to check my personal page and searched everywhere for "where the spam lands" as you told me, and I found nothing!
Do you have a clue?
Have a good evening,
