Hello,
The remote control is no longer responding; upon opening it, I find a greasy liquid. I wipe it, but it doesn’t work. What should I do?

Probably, the batteries have leaked. Rub the metal contacts of the remote control where the batteries are inserted with sandpaper (2 or 3 back-and-forth movements) to remove the oxidation from the leaking batteries. If it doesn’t work, change the remote control :(

The greasy liquid probably doesn't come from the batteries. I had the problem with a Free remote control a year and a half ago and I thought it was the batteries. The remote control was unrepairable, causing false contacts, especially with the lower buttons for volume + and - or program.
It was impossible to remove the silicone casing without irreparably damaging it.
I bought a new one, only using rechargeable batteries, and today the liquid, which has an oily smell, is coming out again with the same symptoms as the previous remote control.
So I'm still forced to use the mobile app to control the Freebox. -
Hi,
The best way to remove battery acid is with CLR and a toothbrush.
Then you can clean the plate under the buttons with window cleaner.
Note: Rechargeable batteries don't cause this.
