I can't install OptiFine.

Question

Hello,
I got a new PC and installed Minecraft Java on it. Then I wanted to install Optifine, but when I clicked on download, it asked me to choose an application. By mistake, I selected Firefox. So now it saves the file in the small blue arrow at the top right of the screen, and when I click on the file, it opens a page telling me it might contain a virus, etc. I click okay, and it saves the file again in the blue arrow. When I click on it, it opens the same page, and the "process" goes on infinitely.
How do I install Optifine?

Hello, right-click on the file -> Open with -> Java (note: make sure that Java is installed on your PC)

Hello, thank you for your reply,
When I click on "open with," it gives me the basic applications but not Minecraft Java. I tried "look for another app on your PC," went to the Minecraft launcher, but when I confirm, it just launches the launcher and nothing changes. And my Minecraft is properly installed; I've already played the game.

I installed the Optifine launcher as shown in your photo and when I open the file with this launcher, I get the message:

Java installation failed
unable to install java
The following switches contain errors:
"C:\Users\brunn\Downloads\Optifine_1.16.3_HD_U_G3.jar";.
Check that the commands are valid and try again.

Hello, I do everything you tell me:
-I install Java (the file "jre-8u261-windows")
-I open the file with "Java Platform SE Binary" using the Java icon (the coffee cup) and then I get the same error code as my last response.
Also, I don't know if it can help, but on the Java icon on my desktop, there is a blue and yellow shield on it.

Me searching on Google, it might be possible that the file is corrupted and cannot be opened. Try to re-download the Optifine file.
