Inkscape: Frame text within a shape

Hello,

I want to reproduce this: but I'm unable to. When I select the shape + the text and then do "text wrap," the text disappears. I've tried it 50 times already. There's something I'm missing. I feel like I'm following the instructions to the letter, but nothing works.
I'd also like to ask another question: when I copy text in Word and paste it into Inkscape, it appears vertically by default.

    You must either remove the background of the drawing or move the drawing down so that the text appears.

      Thank you for responding so quickly, but it's not working.
      With a shape without a background or by moving the shape my text doesn't appear anywhere.
      I tried bringing the text to the front, without success.
      Here's how I proceed:
      I open a file (shape) in png, I select it, Path --> vectorize a raster object.
      Then I click on the Text button and I copy and paste text from a notepad.
      I select the shape then Shift --> select text
      Text --> Create outlines
      Either the text disappears, or nothing happens.
      What am I missing?
      For the text, sorry for the oversight, I had unknowingly changed the text arrangement.

    I notice that if I create the shape using the Bézier curve tool, it works!!!!
    The issue comes from the shape which is a png file that I open in Inkscape and then convert to a raster object. What is the correct procedure?

    Vectorization should not remove the image..
    It may be the image that hides the shape... remove the image before combining the text and the shape.

    Indeed, vectorization does not remove the image, and to avoid making a mistake, the image has a red outline, and during vectorization, it turns black. Therefore, I am removing the red. But that does not solve the problem.

    I just did several tests:
    it works every time if I draw the shape with the Bézier curve tool or if I choose a shape in Inkscape. However, it doesn't work if I open a file containing a .png shape and use the Path/vectorize bitmap function. It's during this manipulation that I must be making a mistake.
    If anyone has an idea?

      So another hypothesis... your shape is either not closed or is vectorized as a surface rather than as a contour (or trace)

      I don't use Inkscape but check if you have 2 vectorization options: contours or axes.
      Vectorization in axes takes the center of a surface, which is ideal for a drawing made up of lines.

        I give up because now it works, except with a png file that I was stubbornly trying to use. It must have a particularity that I can't see. Never mind. I just did plenty of tests with other shapes in jpg or png format. They can all be vectorized and saved as .svg. To be more sure, I close Inkscape and then restart it, I open my vectorized file, then I type my text and select both, I frame it, and it works!!!!
