Tactile paving lifts up

Hello, on my ASUS Sonic Master laptop, which is about 5 years old, my touchpad is lifting up, creating a bump at the base of the keyboard. It's not just the touchpad plate that's coming off, but the entire assembly is strangely rising. My question is, is this dangerous?

Configuration: Windows / Internet Explorer 11.0
